À propos de cet audio

Nations are built on faith. Wars are fought on lies.

A President chosen in secret. A soldier fighting an unwinnable war. A cartel fixer caught between survival and loyalty. A journalist who cannot escape the story.

What if the United States had never conquered the West? What if Deseret, a Mormon republic born in 1851, survived into the twenty-first century as a nation of faith, secrecy, and steel?

In this explosive sequel to The Last Republic, the fragile balance between the United States and the Republic of Deseret collapses into open conflict. Armies clash across deserts and mountains, politicians gamble with destiny, and ordinary men and women are forced to decide whether truth is worth dying for.

Favorites from the first book have returned as well as some new faces. You can tell that the author has served and has in depth knowledge on the subject matter rather than an armchair soldier/author writing based off of knowledge from films.

I love the grounded in reality nature of the events and decision making from the two presidents on down. That being said the characters still have thier own agency, motives, and morality (or lack thereof) in thier decision making.

I find the pacing refreshing as well. The tension builds and ramps up thoughout the book until you find yourself teetering on the edge unsure of who or what will give that last little nudge to send everything into chaos.

Plus I was in no way expecting a Girls und Panzer reference which really made me laugh.

One issue is that I now have to hurry up and wait for the next book. I can't wait.
