Dear 2020 - can we just start over?
Love Dawn x
Life in Pieces is a book for anyone who’s been thrown into a life they didn’t plan or who just wants to stick it to 2020. When it looks like everything’s falling apart, we’ll piece it back together. From reflections on grief and identity, bad hair and parenting, sleep and spirituality, to the things we can control and the things we cannot, Dawn has been doing a lot of thinking about life in lockdown. Mostly from a cupboard. Discover the daily diaries that track the journey - for a hilarious, heartbreaking and highly entertaining glimpse into the new normal.
What the critics say
"Funny, intimate and honest." (Louis Theroux)
"There's been a lot of well-meaning but mad advice on how to contend with the strangest period of human history any of us has ever lived through. Dawn O'Porter redresses the balance by telling it as it really has been: holding out for 5pm to crack open the tequila." (Mark Watson)
"Moving and funny. I absolutely loved it." (Claudia Winkleman)

Easy listen, very funny!
Loved this little book, quick listen and despite heavy topics like grief and pandemic, it managed to be very funny and entertaining. Parents of young kids will especially get a kick out of this one.

Fabulous funny and frank
This is a wonderful text describing quarantine in the USA.
Dawn is honest and shares everything. I cried and laughed. I love Dawn and want to listen to all of her books. Relatable for people who have ever been in quarantine (that’s all of ya folks).

Life in Lockdown
This is the second Dawn O' Porter audio book that I have listened to. Dawn shares her days in lockdown at home with her family. This is a daily journal of her experiences during this COVID-19 times with her husband Chris, two small boys ages 5 & 2 and her pets. You might think that listening to some else's experiences, especially in a day to day format would be quite boring or tedious, but this is not the case with Life in Pieces. Dawn has an amazing capacity for reality and expressing it in way that her reader's or in this case listeners can not only participate in, but relive with her those experiences. I recommend this audio book, as it is not only funny, but also deeply emotional towards her favorite friend, who she lost. This is a focal point part of the story that Dawn shares, as well as her own choices towards Black Lives Matter. Listen carefully at her own experiences and the important lessons she has tried to learn concerning diversity. Personally, I have all ways found it difficult to judge a person by the color of their skin. Some of the most intelligent men & woman I have met, or work with in my life have been of color. I believe the Dawn cares very much about her world as mother, wife and writer and that in her own way she is trying to make a positive change to the world and her two small sons, Art & Valentine. I really like that Dawn reads her own books, it adds to the overall value to readers & listeners experience. I do personally wish the language used at times for expression purposes be less offensive, but that's just me, probably just old school. Don't let that stop you from learning the message. Thank you Dawn for your final closing words, the message is so powerful for the future that I won't forget it.
