Lost a star for excessive use of “hither and thither”

Derek Perkins is brilliant! I love his work and how he clearly delineated each characters voice and vocal mannerisms. The story was also quite enjoyable. It had some slow parts but all stories do. Biggest drawback for me was as noted in the title. It might work well in written form, but spoken word it just yanked me out of the moment every time. Otherwise I really enjoyed it. I greatly liked the religious depths that were looked at.

Last book is not properly divided

The last book of the series is divided into two parts. The second part played first, leaving huge gaps in the story. Imagine how surprised I was to find the intended first half of the book after the second half of the book. Really made this story end poorly for me. Otherwise, good book. The first chapter you should start with is 60; assuming everyone’s download as mine did.

NJ Love As Promised

Dave is an amazing storyteller and truly excels at creating - developing amazing characters to fall in love with. In the Fatemarked Epic I dare say every character is a superstar in their own right. Most Epics have a couple characters that I care about deeply. In Estes Epic tales I worried about them all. Not one disposable character. The battles were vividly told going beyond typical blood and gore. I felt as though i was there at the scene of the action.

Simply put - i loved this series and must admit i am said its over. On a personal note i wrote to david estes to share how much i loved his books and that my young teenage son was reading them with me. He mailed us very cool bookmarks with illustrations of characters for free. Thanks again Dave. All he asked was if after i was finished if i still liked the books to write a quick review. Well i dont like them i LOVE them!!!!!!
