After winning two wars against the Nemovorti, Minalan plans an expedition to The Lost Valley of Anghysbel, in the far north of his realm. It's there, in the caldera of a supervolcano at the edge of the tundra, he suspects many of the answers he so desperately needs might be hidden. The only problem is that thanks to the anti-magical properties of the jevolar, his spells won’t work; he’ll be without magic for the first time since he came into his Talent.

Lost a star for excessive use of “hither and thither”
Derek Perkins is brilliant! I love his work and how he clearly delineated each characters voice and vocal mannerisms. The story was also quite enjoyable. It had some slow parts but all stories do. Biggest drawback for me was as noted in the title. It might work well in written form, but spoken word it just yanked me out of the moment every time. Otherwise I really enjoyed it. I greatly liked the religious depths that were looked at.

loved this entire series
I couldn't wait to start the next one each time. The entire series kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't wait to hear what happened next. Character development was wonderful. When you have so many different stories going, it's easy to get lost jumping from one to the other. I never had that problem and really enjoyed how they all came together at the end. I also loved the epilogue. It was really nice to hear "the rest of the story."

Lame
I kind of hated the ending. Feels like a cop out.
*Spoilers
No need to have roan choose between the two, killing him is easier. And super lame.
8 hours between Terran and Anise, 0 seconds between Gywn and Roan.
Hate the dragon, hate the soul, hate the lame ending.
