Like Mother is a mother-daughter comedy that explores two generations of women who are a lot alike, but who are desperate to believe otherwise. This semi-autobiographical, 10-episode Audible Original follows 30-year-old Allison (Alison Stevenson) who is forced to move home after losing her job. Now that she’s back in Davis, and living with her mother Sarah (Susie Essman), the two must confront their combative relationship head-on and figure out how to live under the same roof.

Written through each character’s alternating perspective, this scripted audio series gives us an intimate look at the complicated relationship between a mother and her daughter - from one night stands in your mom’s house, to fat-shaming, to whether knocking on wood actually wards off evil, Like Mother gives us a front row seat to a raw and realistic portrayal of millennial relationships, and asks us to question, not only our own relationships, but ultimately ourselves.

The first chapter is a bit off putting... the neuroticism and high pitched overacting is overwhelming. By the third chapter the big hurt heart starts coming through and it becomes endearing and insightful.

While there were a couple of scenes that were mildly funny this was one of those situations where you cannot believe that a production could be so absolutely pointless, that you slog through to the end looking for...something.
