Publisher's Summary

Former child music prodigy Lily Croft spends most days in her home office crunching numbers and analyzing data as an actuary. Once, she filled concert halls across the world until the pressure got too much and forced her retreat. When her boss hands her a temporary assignment, Lily has to leave the safety of working from home to work with people at an office. She keeps her head down and stays focused, but one night on her way to the train station, she hears music wafting from the Leading Note, and the life and feelings she suppressed for more than a decade bubble up to the surface.

Lily is inexplicably drawn to Hope D’Marco, Leading Note’s gorgeous and brilliant founder. But falling for Hope and reexploring her passion for music force Lily to face her past.

Will she go back into hiding or have the courage to confront the consequences of her past and present colliding?

Terrible Voice

I’m struggling to even listen! She trying to sound all sexy! Wish I could change the voice so I can listen to the story. Thinking of scrapping the book altogether.

Kris Bryant Never Disappoints

Beautiful story of patience, love and trust. Narration is a little slow but works well with the story.

Great story ruined by the narrator

Oh my GOD! This narrator has the most irritating style I have ever heard. I’m having a hard time listening to her. It’s ruining what is otherwise a terrific story with some unique character situations. Who the heck speaks in the way this narrator is having the characters speak? It’s like she’s doing a bad impression of William Shatner. If she narrates Kris Bryant’s other books, I’ll stick to reading them from now on.

Narration ruined the story

Very difficult to follow the story as the narrator sounded exactly the same for each character. I tried really hard to push through but I couldn’t take it anymore and I did something I have never done before... I stop listening and deleted from my library. I am now trying to read the book but unfortunately the voice in my head is the narrator 😢

I have enjoyed every other book written by Kris Bryant but I will think twice before purchasing any other audible books by her

Bad Narration

The story was too long and predictable. The narration was all wrong. Too many pauses in the wrong places...who talks like that anyway?

beautiful story, great narrator

this is definitely one of my favorite Kris Bryant stories. she reaches so deep into her characters and ends with a soft sweet sigh rather trying the grand and unrealistic gesture you expect. brava.

great story

excellent depiction of the main characters condition and attacks. very solid storytelling, with well defined character development. perfect proportion of backstory as well. I have many books by the author and this is on par with her best.
the narrators diction and pronounciatiion were professional but the cadence was upsetting. too many pauses in all the wrong places and it distracts you from the story. i get through this narrators performances by increasing the time scale to 120% as it helps to lessen the impact of the pauses.

Narrator

Loved the narrator, except that it was difficult to know who was talking, which was confusing.

Thank you Kris Bryant

-For writing human characters with flaws.
-For writing sex that is not simple.
-For writing about music in ways that move non-musicians.
-For letting us watch your characters grow.
-For adding just enough suspense to keep us turning pages.

Listen was brilliant.
