Publisher's Summary

Edgewood - which is not found on any map - is many houses, all put inside each other or across each other. It’s filled with and surrounded by mystery and enchantment; the further in you go, the bigger it gets.

Smoky Barnable, who has fallen in love with Daily Alice Drinkwater, travels from the City on foot to Edgewood, her family home. There he finds himself on the magical border of an otherworld.

Crowley’s work has a special alchemy - mixing the world we know with an imagined world that seems more true and real. Winner of the World Fantasy Award, Little, Big is elegant, sensual, funny, and unforgettable. It is a story of fantastic love and heartrending loss, of impossible things and unshakable destinies, and of the great Tale that envelops us all. It is a wonder.

John Crowley is an American writer who has also worked in television and documentary films. His fantasy and science fiction have established him as a major voice in imaginative writing. His other novels include The Deep, Engine Summer, and Ægypt.

Enchanting

I loved every minute of this story, and appreciate the author’s narration. It would have been challenging for anyone else to give it the same depth and cadence.

Were my imagination finds it's home.

I have listened to this book 4 times and am looking forward to my next listens. Every time there is something new to build in my imagination. I am one of the few people who listen to a book and build pictures in my mind, like a mini (or in this case episodes) of a movie. And by far this is one of my favorites to linger in.
As he is reading his own works, his voice adds that whimsical deep dive into each chapter and verse, were creatures dress themselves in silky words, and glide along the stories path.
I did try and read this book before I listened and yes that was a treat, but I had a house flood, and this was one book that did not make it out. (don't fall asleep with a book and have it fall to the floor...) I am so grateful to a friend who suggested I listen to this while I clean house up. And that is where my repeating started with this adventure.
