Story
The first story Selma Blair Beitner ever heard about herself is that she was a mean, mean baby. With her mouth pulled in a perpetual snarl and a head so furry it had to be rubbed to make way for her forehead, Selma spent years living up to her terrible reputation: biting her sisters, lying spontaneously, getting drunk from Passover wine at the age of seven, and behaving dramatically so that she would be the center of attention. In a memoir that is as wildly funny as it is emotionally shattering, Blair tells the captivating story of growing up and finding her truth.

Another great book by Rob Lowe

Written by: Rob Lowe
Publisher's Summary
A sharp, funny, and honest collection of real-life stories from Kelly Ripa, showing the many dimensions and crackling wit of the beloved daytime talk-show host.
In Live Wire, her first book, Kelly shows what really makes her tick. As a professional, as a wife, as a daughter, and as a mother, she brings a hard-earned wisdom and an eye for the absurdity of life to every minute of every day. It is her relatability in all of these roles that has earned her fans worldwide and millions of followers on social media. Whether recounting how she and Mark really met, the level of chauvinism she experienced on set, how Jersey pride follows her wherever she goes, and many, many moments of utter mortification (whence she proves that you cannot, in fact, die of embarrassment) Kelly always tells it like it is. Ms. Ripa takes no prisoners.
Surprising, at times savage, a little shameless, and always with humor...Live Wire shows Kelly as she really is offscreen—a very wise woman who has something to say.

As a Canadian I will start with…Sorry. Kelly, I listened but hoped for much more. So often, throughout, it was you were begging the listener to be kind rather than speaking to your story.
I throughly enjoyed the LAST 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this book.

Ugh I'm so over this book. I was suggested this book by a friend and I was hesitant because I already find Kelly Ripa annoying. So with that in mind take this review with a grain of salt.
Why did I listen to it, against my better judgement? Because it came with awesome reviews. The quirks I found annoying about this book I'm sure others would find funny and entertaining.
This book is a series of "essays", I use that word loosely because I've always been taught an essay has a clear thesis, beginning, middle, and end, her "essays" do not. Ms. Ripa's essays were more along the lines of incoherent ramblings. She would digress often, often telling stories within stories. I found her to be an over confident space case who is under the illusion that she lives a "normal" life, so much so that she needs to keep reminding the world that she's a "down to earth" celebrity.
Granted this book had it's funny - light parts. But essentially I was bored out of my mind.
The best part of this book was the epilogue and the acknowledgements because her quality of writing improved immensely.

Irritating
After listening to two chapters, I will probably stop listening. Her voice is irritating and the stories are ridiculous. Four hours on the highway…dumb dumb talk. The New Jersey chapter is worse with the twangs and accents. Thought book would be fun…very disappointing.
