Publisher's Summary

Are you tired of feeling like you have to check social media to find out what you’re supposed to think? Are you weary of the latest self-help books that promise to set you free but only imprison you with laundry lists of studies to consider, positive affirmations to recite, and Facebook groups to join?

We’ve all seen the memes that populate the internet: live your truth, follow your heart, you only have one life to live. They sound nice and positive. But what if these slogans are actually lies that unhinge us from reality and leave us anxious and exhausted? Another Gospel? author Alisa Childers invites you to examine modern lies that are disguised as truths in today’s culture. Everyday messages of peace, fulfillment, and empowerment swirl around social media. On the surface, they seem like sentiments of freedom and hope, but in reality, they are deeply deceptive.

In Live Your Truth and Other Lies, Alisa will help you to:

  • uncover the common lies repeated within progressive circles
  • hold on to the soul-restoring truths that God’s Word offers
  • be empowered to live the way your Creator designed you

Being the captain of your own destiny and striving to make your dreams a reality is a huge burden that you were never meant to bear. Discover true freedom instead.

much needed reminder

There is so much I could say, but the bottom line is that this book was such an encouragement to me. I already have recommended this book to others.
The author brings up a lot of great points and challenges you to think and truely examine the very popular saying, books and statements in our culture, reminding the Christian where Truth with a capital 'T' is found. (I liked the reminder of what the Hebrew word 'ezer' means when Adam and God were describing Eve. Also, I appreciated the constant reminder to go back to God's word, the bible, instead of blindly listening to (or reading) what others say.)

Alisa has her pulse in the culture

It’s witty. It’s sometimes funny. And always insightful. The ideas are well presented. A good follow up for Another Gospel.

An encouragement for the deflated.

Alisa has done a wonderful job of encapsulating the full thought behind the feeling I get when I scroll through social media and end up feeling even more exhausted by the surface words of encouragement that I've encountered there. she has a way of making me excited to encounter God's words in their historical and applicable context. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking truth in a culture that breeds lies.

A Great Read about The Great Truth

After two days of binge listening, I am again grateful for the wisdom, wit, and words of Alisa Childers. I resonate with her  self-love-mantra induced exhaustion (and appreciation for dessert metaphors). She approaches the subject with humor and grace, yet does not withold the truly beautiful truths of scripture to make this work more palatable in our current cultural climate, which I deeply appreciate.

I laughed/cried/learned/was deeply encouraged and challenged. (And I might just go ahead and stitch some descriptive Bible verses from Judges on some pillows....a great conversation starter, maybe? Ok. Maybe not.)

Thanks for the reminder!

I enjoyed the reminder that we are to be in the world and not OF it. The lies that the world believes ought not to be lies that WE believe. Thanks Alisa!

Timely Reminders!

Very well done! I also love when the author reads their own book, if they are able. Alisa Childers, gives many timely reminders of the calling for the Christian. We need not loose hope in these trying times, God knows all, sees all and will guide us for His purpose. Would recommend this to others.

Wow.

Such a well-written book. Love the author’s personal stories, all of the biblical truth combatting the lies and a simple and clear explanation of what our culture has gotten so wrong. The last chapter was my favourite - definitely worth reading/listening to from cover to cover.
