Publisher's Summary

After dealing with terrorist attacks and an EMP attack on America's infrastructure, Talon finally thought he was on his way home. But the tragic death of one of his team has the rest of the groups morale low and everyone is feeling sorry for themselves. The latest encounter with a terrorist cell has inadvertently bought Talon's group to the attention of the Iranian Supreme Command. Which in turn has declared war on Talon's group and ordered other Iranian assets to hunt down and destroy Talon's group. To make matters worse, Talon is talked into an ill-advised rescue attempt in a trade that should have assisted him in getting back to Texas. The obstacles are adding up against Talon, but he is determined that nothing will stop him from getting home to his family.

Good story

Enjoy the characters but the book itself is very very slow. Far too much time on detailed survival instruction.

Military novel, not a prepper novel

Military strategy, weapons talk, killing people. I had been expecting more prep info, which was almost non existent (I do not consider endless discussions of weapons prep info). Someone wanting a military story might consider this 5 stars. I do agree with obeying who is in charge in life and death scenarios....Beth's failure to do so did get Josh killed. Again I am convinced about the wisdom of not going far from home. I will not be listening to this again nor getting the sequel.

A good second book

It’s another entertaining chapter in his story. I don’t regret the purchase and will most likely get the next installment. Not much time is covered in the book, only a couple of weeks go by in this book. There’s plenty of action.I agree with some other reviewers having a hard time accepting the premise anyone could pack the amount of equipment he does. But it’s fiction, not a how to survive the apocalypse manual.

dg

Drags on too long. Had to skip chapters because of being so drawn out. Can anyone write a book 10 to15 hours long without having to get books 2,3,4,5,6,7 etc?

Great book

As much as Mr. Carlson is well spoken and articulate, his voice reminds me more of the old west as opposed to TEOTWAWKI fiction. But overall, amazing job!👍

Better than the first

David corrected many wording and consistency issues from the first book. There are still some "wordy" and redundant things going on. For example "Talon watched him enter the house, then followed him in to the house". Small issue but it destracts me. The performance by Steve was well done, he is growing on me. The story keeps true to the genre. Plot armor and badassery throughout the whole book. While completely predictable it kept me engaged throughout. it was not as gear heavy as the first it's still there. I think I only heard mountain house a few times, rather than the 4859 times in the first. Overall if you pushed through the first and enjoy the genre pick this one up.
