À propos de cet audio

Most people can’t farm experience in their sleep… or without leaving their room.

The 42nd Merging arrives, mass-transporting every human to a hostile new world with a System. Everyone must choose a Class, and Quest directives compel them to climb the leaderboards for categories like highest level… and most kills of other people.

Jordan isn’t anyone special before the Merging, but the new start equalizes the playing field. He must exploit his versatile class to overcome powerful monsters and opportunistic strangers who kill people as a quick path to power.

He’ll find that the greatest threat may not be monsters or humans but hostile alien species added in the Merging. Sharing the leaderboards and the same final prize, they will stop at nothing to wipe out the competition.

For Jordan, surviving isn’t enough. The System promises unfathomable power to those who embrace it and distinguish themselves. To do so requires more than personal strength. Jordan must establish dominion over the new world, defending his territory and expanding it so that he alone reigns above all.

With the power of multitasking and a summonable army, how hard can it be?

Great story and narration. A worthy credit.

Really interesting book. The system is fairly rigid thus far, but there are interesting mechanics that are unique and give great latitude to the story of the MC. The MC is very analytical and loves to try things so you have a sense of progress basically all the time, if not a sense of urgency (yet). The world building is necessarily less prominent at this stage in the book, but that works for the story. The interactions with other “characters” isn’t overcooked or overwrought and is rather natural and well done. I’ve never read a LITRPG with an MC with this ability set and I’m really enjoying it. While the system seems rigid and formulaic, it’s clearly due to a specific decision by the author and it works. As the MC progresses though, you begin to get peaks behind the curtain, so to speak, and it becomes clear the system has far more latitude than you at first think. Moreover the dominant species in the multiverse isn’t what you think…but it reminds me of concepts in the series “Heretic Fishing”. Quite cool.

It certainly has become clear that while the world building initially is smaller in scope, it hints greatly at much beyond this initial trial and the politics of the multiverse. It only hints though, but while the story is more contained thus far, it’s clear the scope will continue to grow satisfyingly going forward.

Love the narration, IMHO it’s the perfect man for the job and he does a fantastic work here too. I honestly can’t wait for the next book, I clearly found this series too soon, but I love the start, the hinted at future scale and the seemingly unlimited potential of this class, if the MC can just figure out how to make it work its best, and clearly this is what the author is hinting at. I can’t wait to see it happen.

Finally, I’ll say that the MC is a suitable underdog, but his class and his accomplishments give him access to some potentially (in a good way) broken mechanics that if he plays his cards right will be huge for the MC going forward.

My genuine hope is the story is more than a 3 book arc. I haven’t looked up the printed works yet, but this story can certainly have legs. Can’t wait.

Well done -

This book is a great look at what a person may do in the system comming to earth .

the main Character is likeable and luckyy and you can actually see how he starts out weaker than some of the other classes which let me tell you are op in the beginning but as things go on he out scales them and makes sacrifices to progress.

A good first entry

This was a pretty fun take on a System Apocalypse.

What I liked: Very unique and diverse skills and class choices. Most people in the post system world have vastly different builds and skills. The skill system with upgrading skills to do new and different things is very interesting and neat to read about. It's a pretty number-crunchy book, but thankfully full stat readouts don't happen too often. The system and the world are very intriguing and I can't wait to learn more about them.

What I didn't love: The MC really doesn't have much of a personality. Pretty much all the side characters are more interesting than him. There's a LOT of internal monologue that focuses around cooldown of his skills and range and power usage for skills, and stuff that I personally didn't care much about, but others may enjoy. The whole book takes place over a week or two, but very little actually happens.

The narration had some weird glitches through the whole book where the sound quality would VASTLY change for a sentence and then switch back. Very jarring but not a deal breaker. I also think the narrator choice was a weird one. Mr. Gilliland is fantastic, but it's hard to imagine his sultry deep voice as a nerdy college kid who's into robotics and computer science.

Overall it's worth a listen in my opinion, and a great first entry for a series.
