The book should be called "Just Eat Fruit"

This book has some sound advice but nothing revolutionary, and constantly compares the human diet to other animals like squirrels, gorillas and elephants. He has controversial opinions about protein and constantly tells the reader to eat more fruit. It lacks scientific evidence, and asks the reader to tap into some prehistoric human intuition that tells us to eat more fruit, and if fruit is not available eat vegetables. Apparently the human population has been brainwashed into thinking meat tastes good since the dawn of man.

Out dated info backed by Standard American Diet

Love Allen carr and you can't blame him there is only so much he could've known about diet, the info in the book is helpful but very outdated, especially since it's sort of recommending a plant based diet. Outdated info backed by Standard American Diet nutrition advice. If you can educate your self on what foods ACTUALLY contribute to weight gain then you can listen with an open mind otherwise be warned.

Reasons to be vegan?

The book encourages you to become a vegan, basically. It states that you can eat anything that your body wants and then explains how your body wants mostly fruits, vegetables and cereals. It is not restricting you in any way, but makes you think twice when putting a burger in your mouth. Be prepared to think totally different about food. I recommend it.

everything the world has forgotten

I used the stop smoking now book a little over a year ago and haven't picked up a cigarette or even wanted one since I finished it. I came to this book because I am a little overweight and want to be healthier I trust the author and after reading it I am not disappointed. I've been trusting my instincts for 3 days now and already feel a hundred percent better I know this method is going to work a hundred percent.

One of the best books on weight loss!!

The author presents his ideas in a clear, objective, enjoyable and effective way! It's impossible not to get excited about losing weight like this! Definitely worth reading!!

Good reader great book

Allen Carr made me stop smoking and hopefully now lose some weight. His simple but uplifting words help remove your addiction to junk and bad food. The reader is also very good.

Some reviewers missed the point

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The book emphasized over and over to forget about dieting and will power -- approaches that seldom work permanently -- and that you don't have to give up any particular food.Recommended if you want to change your *habits* and forget dieting. It's for a gradual change in your thinking about food. One does need an open mind, as the author stresses, and he stresses not to take anything he says by faith. It does not preclude eating any specific food but emphasizes healthy foods that you like, and has bookoo valuable information about how to help your body rather than throw obstacles in the way of its healthy functioning.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I looked forward to listening while walking and bought the written version after finishing the audio book so I could easily look up ideas and reference information going forward.

Any additional comments?

I'm not sure I agree with every single logical point but overall I think it's sound thinking and I found it liberating.

finally a real method or lifestyle that work. <br />

I have been looking for this for 40 yrs. listen to this audible book several occasions. I changed my way to see food and eat food. its works for me. I am slowly loosing weight.

excellent narration

If you listen to this audio book with an open mind and let the author's messages sink in and resonate within your mind, you will start seeing food in a new way. In particular, you will have an appreciation for foods which you have taken for granted all your life, which taste great and are actually are good to your body in ways you don't realize. More importantly, you will recognize "junk" foods for what they are (mixtures of sugars, salt and chemicals designed by corporations to hook you and extract money from your wallet) and instantly and almost magically, their appeal will vaporize. This is one of those rare books that can truly change your life for the better if you give it a meaningful chance. I have listened to this book several times over the last month since I first acqired it and without any concious effort have lost over 15 lbs, have more energy and focus than I've had in years, and I do not feel starved or deprived. Even better, I have not felt the discomfort and shame from over stuffing myself with junk foods.

Slam dunk!

Another great book from Allen Carr! Can't believe I almost didn't buy it cause of the reviews. I wonder if people actually pay attention to what they are reading. This man's a genius when it comes to understanding human behavior. And, yes, I know his method works cause this is how I used to eat before I was brainwashed by society to eat junk.
