Publisher's Summary
This program is read by the author.
The empowering, inspiring, patriarchy-smashing first book by podcast star Drew Afualo.
Drew Afualo is best known as the internet’s “Crusader for Women” and is at the head of a new generation of entertainment’s rising stars. Loud is part manual, part manifesto, and part memoir. It makes it clear that behind her fearsome laugh is a mission and a life philosophy, a strategy for self-confidence from the inside out, and a pathway to once and for all remove men from the center of how women and femmes think about themselves.
Afualo has amassed more than nine million followers across her social platforms. When she first started creating content in 2020, she realized that men on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and other apps were creating sexist content aimed at disparaging women, and also containing rampant fatphobia, racism, and other forms of bigotry, with very real-life consequences. It didn’t take long for her to step into the role of unofficial watchdog for misogyny, and her signature laugh is now recognized as a feminist call to arms, a summoning cry to rid the internet (and our hearts, minds, and lives) of “terrible men” and create a space to fight outdated patriarchal ideals.

Story
Today's feminist movement has a glaring blind spot, and paradoxically, it is women. Mainstream feminists rarely talk about meeting basic needs as a feminist issue, argues Mikki Kendall, but food insecurity, access to quality education, safe neighborhoods, a living wage, and medical care are all feminist issues. All too often, however, the focus is not on basic survival for the many, but on increasing privilege for the few. Author Mikki Kendall takes aim at the legitimacy of the modern feminist movement arguing that it has chronically failed to address the needs of all but a few women.

Story
Julia Fox is famous for many things: her captivating acting, such as her breakout role in the film Uncut Gems; her trendsetting style, including bleached eyebrows, exaggerated eyeshadow, and cutout dresses; her mastery of social media, where she entertains and educates her millions of followers. But all these share the trait for which she is most famous: unabashedly and unapologetically being herself. This commitment to authenticity has never been more on display than in Down the Drain. With writing that is both eloquent and accessible, Fox recounts her turbulent path to cultural supremacy.

Story
Carter Beckett is the NHL’s resident bad boy, top player both on the ice and in the bedroom, and quite possibly the sexiest man to ever grace my field of vision. But worst of all? He knows it. He’s arrogant, self-centered, and the man doesn’t seem to know what a filter is, let alone how to use one. He’s had everything served to him on a silver platter, including endless strings of women, and apparently, I’m up next. I have the solution to all my sexual frustrations in a drawer at home, and it’s far less complicated than Carter Beckett.

Well crafted and authentic
I listened to this in tandem with reading the book. Drew has always had a way of speaking and storytelling on tiktok and podcasts, and the authenticity in this book is no different. I was very engaged throughout and served as an amazing way to pass the time on my 14.5 hour flight that I was not built for (Translator's note: I'm impatient). I would recommend this read to absolutely anyone. The life experience and unique lived experience accompanied by her values throughout serve as an insightful read for all.

Phenomenal and well rounded
I’ve followed Drew for years and this book has only made me admire her more. This is one of the best books I’ve listened to in a very long time. I will be putting this book on a consistent loop and getting everyone I know to read or listen to it as well.

An eye-opener to real self-respect
It makes so much sense now, that I know about Drew's family background why is she so confident, and why she takes no shit from anyone, as she should! I love Drew, and knowing that she's friends with Tefi makes me like her even more! We as women need more role models like Drew and her friends. Not to be stepped over and to open our eyes to the disrespect, to say the least. And that will lead to true self-love. Thank you for writing this book and I wish you and Pili all the happiness, as well as to your family! Eni, from Budapest, Hungary

An uninformed piece of work.
this author is incapable of understanding there are different cultures and personality types. This book only serves to he divisive, not improve relations between men and women. the author is obviously not trained to know how humans work. The whole book is slanted towards most men being misogynistic....but I don't really feel she would know or care if that is true. she is creating an antagonistic perspective that is not healthy to anyone. All men are not evil!
