Publisher's Summary
He'd been warned that Lady Clarissa Crambray was dangerous. Stomping on toes and burning piffles, the chestnut-haired beauty was clearly a force with which to be reckoned. But for Adrian Montfort, earl of Mowbray, veteran of the Napoleonic Wars, this was just the challenge he needed. He could handle one woman and her “unfortunate past”. Could any woman handle him?
Lady Clarissa Crambray wanted a husband, but maybe not as much as her stepmother wanted one for her. Really! Doffing her spectacles might make a girl prettier, but how would she see? She'd already caused enough mayhem to earn a rather horrible nickname. Yet as all other suitors seemed to shy away in terror, there came a man to lead her to the dance floor. A dark, handsome, blur of a man.

I liked it
If you look past the simple plot issue that can be resolved with one simple gesture, this is a nice book. there's a tenderness between the MCs and some humour. Strong narrator performance

Finally!
I have been waiting for this since I started listening to audiobooks a few years ago. This is my favorite Lynsay Sands novel. I’ve read the paper copy many times. She writes with such light humor and her love stories always give me the giggles. Worth the listen!

Blah!! Awful!
I wasn't a fan of this book. I couldn't get into the storyline .. probably because there wasn't one. I couldn't get into the characters or their personalities .. probably because thry didn't have one. The two "love birds" were very dull and unappealing. Usually, one of the characters has some really great qualities and helps build a connection between the two. No such luck here!. The story started off dull, but I remain hopeful. By the time I got to the middle, it was still sooo dull. I don't know why I even bothered to let the story go until the end .... Seriously ... I have no clue. I think I was hoping that the story would turn and the characters would evolve. Not this one ... just an insecure and unlikable guy and a twit of a girl with no depth or other redeemable qualities. There was no character build up, at all. No chemistry build up, either. Zero. And the narration was gastly! Horrible! Very unnatural and forced. That didn't help the story, at all. I'd say skip this one! Stick with the pros - Jude Deveraux, Stephanie Laurens, Johanna Lindsey, Julie Garwood .... just saying ..

So funny and romantic
Loved it. One of the best I have read by Sands. The carriage ride with the wedding night discussion was hysterical! Nice mystery but not overly dramatic. Justine Eyre was terrific! Highly recommend.

Funny, nice, I liked it....
Except for the steamy parts which I skipped ahead cause I like Romance but not to steamy which this was. The story itself was one of those filled with low self esteem with both the H&h but for me I didn’t mind too much. I laughed throughout the book. Narrator was good....tiny mystery was there but could be solved way before the end.

Horrible
Eveything she went through just not to wear glasses, ridiculous. The story was so unbelievably stupid. I could not finish the book.

Disappointed
This book was such a disappointment I was looking for a good clean read but this was just another author peddling soft pornography. Are authors so insecure about their stories these days that they think that the only way they can sell them is by throwing as many sexual scenes as they can into the fray?

I could not suspend my disbelief that far.
In order to read fiction, one must suspend disbelief except in the instances where "life is stranger than fiction". This book however is not one of those instances. I get that both the hero and the heroine have insecurities. These insecurities drive the story. But when the story has all but reconciled the issues why keep up the farce of keeping the heroine blind? It didn't make sense and the story suffered for that. Also, the resolution of the mystery was just weak and unimaginative. Really!!! Reward the villain!! And the cruelty of the step-mother! If it wasn't for the excellence of Justine Eyre narration, I would have not finished it. As it was, I kept fast forwarding through the audio. So much in fact that I skipped that last 2 hrs of the audio and listened to the last 10 minutes of the book.

eh
Imo, not one of LS best. Too much drama! WHY the heroine put up with her stepmother as long as she did was bewildering to me.
As always Justine Eyre did an excellent job of narrating.

Love is blind
This was a delightful story and I like the humor and the suspense.
The narrator was excellent in depicting each character and she has a pleasant voice to listen too also.
I would recommend this story.
