À propos de cet audio

A Briar universe standalone romance featuring the next generation Off-Campus characters—where one unforgettable summer changes everything.

After a brutal breakup, college junior Blake Logan escapes to her family’s lake house in Tahoe, determined to shut out the world. Her plan is simple: no men, no drama. Until Wyatt Graham shows up. Four years older and far too good at getting under her skin, Wyatt is the living embodiment of a “bad idea,” and the guy who shattered her pride when she confessed her crush at sixteen.

With his music career stalled, Wyatt has come to Tahoe for inspiration. The last thing he expects is to find it with Blake. He’s spent years keeping his distance, convinced he’s all wrong for her, but she’s no longer the innocent girl he once knew. She’s confident, captivating, and impossible to ignore. And the slow-burning tension between them? It’s catching fire fast.

They both know this can’t last, but one reckless kiss turns into another, and soon they’re tangled in something that feels dangerously like more. Just as they finally give in to the pull, tragedy tears them apart, leaving their hearts in pieces.

But forgetting that one, nearly perfect summer? Not a chance. And when fate brings them together again, Blake and Wyatt must decide if this is a second chance…or the final verse.

I just binged through Love Song, and I adored the audio performance by Connor Crais and by Erin Mallon. They both made the story come alive and their ability to use a variety of voices and their nuanced performances are brilliant.

I found that in some parts, it was a struggle for me to understand Wyatt and Blake’s motivations and feelings, but when I pull back and think about it, the turmoil that they feel about each other is realistic given that they are both in their early 20s and trying to find their way in the world.

I felt a disconnect between the last quarter of the book and the first 3 quarters, it was like the tone of the story really changed and the way that the characters processed the tragedy was baffling and it felt unresolved. And honestly that piano scene with the pop star felt similarly unresolved and made me mad, NGL. He’s in love with Blake and the scene felt very much like cheating, because he admitted that he wanted to fuck the pop star.

I loved, loved, loved the group chat conversations and it was so funny in some parts, I read those chats like 3 times over again because they were so brilliant! The story’s theme of “understanding the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves” is nicely done.

I am excited to read the next installment in this universe and looking forward to which characters we’ll read about next. I so enjoy Elle Kennedy’s writing and am very invested in her characters. 🩷

I love the off campus universe… but not this book 💔

I absolutely loved this book and Elle’s writing in general. She gives you great humour, swoon worthy (and filthy mouthed) MMCs, relatable FMCs and all the feelies. Love Song is no exception. This will be a top summer read you’re going to want to pick up. Wyatt just became one of my top 3 MMCs of all Elle’s books (Garrett and Ryder being the other two). Loved his character arc.

You have to remember and keep in mind her MCs are always in their early 20s so they’re not perfect. They have flaws and can be annoying but here at least we have a theme of change and finding yourself.

There’s a delicate topic in this that I didn’t expect and I was heartbroken for these characters when it happened. I think Elle handled it so well.

If you loved the OG Briar characters, this one is SO fun because you see them a lot as parents as we now follow the second gen. There’s no shortage of dad chats to keep you satisfied!

I can’t wait to reread this via audio. And teasers for the next book??? 👀 I will be IMPATIENTLY waiting to get that story.

I would give this book 5 stars for the group chats + glimpses of my Off Campus zaddies alone! When I tell you I wish I could play in the Badminton Blood Match! Elle Kennedy is one of my auto-read/buy authors, and I just had to consume this book on release day. I lost track of how many times I was giggling and kicking my feet. I absolutely LOVED getting to see John Logan and Garrett as dads! We got a bit of Garrett in the Campus Diaries series but this was a whole new level. I did an immersive read and loved the audiobook! It was dual style, narrated by Erin Mallon and Connor Crais. They both gave us amazing performances with these characters - Connor Crais was absolute perfection as Wyatt. The only way I would have loved the audiobook more was if it was duet-style.
We're back in the Off Campus universe with Blake (Grace + John Logan's daughter) + Wyatt (Hannah + Garrett's son). They both end up staying at the shared house in Lake Tahoe for the summer. They've grown up together, but were never close...other than one steamy and supposedly forgotten encounter a few years back. Blake is spending the summer trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life after she graduates. Wyatt is a musician escaping the city and struggling with writer's block. The banter was sometimes playful, but a lot of times just fire. The tension was high from the very beginning, and kept building authentically, amazing banter motivated by Wyatt's grumpiness. I'm obsessed with how the tension was finally broken - that scene lives rent free in my head now! Elle never disappoints on the heat and Wyatt was mmmmm in all the steamy scenes.
Love Song had everything I could have asked for - it was heartfelt, hot and romantic, with great MCs, and the perfect dose of Off Campus nostalgia <3

I'm here for the group chats!

Here for the Man Chat. Love the Briar universe. Cute story! Male narrator is great as always, wish they chose a younger voice for a 21 year old. Also wish it was in duet version or full cast as it just makes the world of difference.

Love Elle Kennedy, the Man chat and the Briar universe!

I am usually a big fan on Kennedy, I enjoy many of her series. This one, following the kids just leaves a lot to be desired. The writing seems worse than her earlier stuff and some of the plot points in the book were downright aggravating. I would pass on this one if you're a fan of her earlier work.

Good performance, terrible plot
