An inventor goes public and says, "I have created a magnetic sound vibration anti-gravity spaceship." The military hears this and replies, "It's ours now. Also, it does not exist," and sends the inventor to prison for reasons of national security, and the inventor is never heard from again. The news reports it as a standard weather balloon.
