About this listen

Faking this relationship should be a piece of cake.

Retta Majors is having a bad day - but that’s to be expected when your ex gets engaged to your cousin. Instead of (totally) freaking out, Retta decides to attend the wedding with her amazing, faithful, and handsome boyfriend. One problem....He doesn’t exist.

Duncan Gilmore is living his dream. His boxing gym is open for business, and he’s focused on success. The last thing on his mind is a relationship. That is, until the beautiful baker next door makes him an offer so bizarre, he can’t refuse. One weekend of pretending to be Retta’s boyfriend should be easy.

However, shared kisses and some flirting start to blur the lines in their fake relationship. When their performance draws to a close, will they go their separate ways, or return for an encore?

This novel is a standalone.

Content notes: A pregnant secondary character.

Good overall

The book is good. but the think I wish the author was not to vivid with certain spicy scene in the book. it cheaper the book for me. I thought it was going to be more of a courtship book. thanks for your effort on this book.

A Perfect Pretend: A Heartwarming Tale of Love and

Retta is attending her cousin’s wedding under somewhat complicated circumstances—her ex-fiancé is tying the knot. Rather than face the uncomfortable situation alone, she insists on bringing a plus-one for support. Enter Duncan, a charming gym owner who’s been under constant pressure from his family to find a girlfriend. In need of a solution to his family’s matchmaking schemes, Duncan and Retta strike a deal: they’ll pretend to be a couple at social events. What begins as a convenient arrangement starts to blossom into something more meaningful.

The story is a delightful blend of humor, heartfelt moments, and light romance. The chemistry between Retta and Duncan feels natural, and their evolving relationship is both sweet and engaging. The plot moves at a good pace, never dragging but also never feeling rushed, and the characters are richly developed, with their individual struggles and growth making them relatable and endearing.

What really sets this book apart is the exceptional audio experience. The narrators bring the characters to life with their distinct voices and excellent performances, capturing the emotions and humor in the story beautifully. Their ability to convey the characters' inner conflicts and chemistry enhances the overall enjoyment of the book. I found myself fully immersed in their world, eagerly anticipating what would happen next.

If you're looking for a lighthearted, feel-good story with a touch of romance and plenty of laughs, this book is definitely worth recommending. The audio version, in particular, is a standout—an immersive experience that elevates the charm of the story.
