Story: It is books like these that teens read when young and impressionable that make them think that (a) it is normal for women to be second-class citizens and (b) that sex is a weapon to be used against women. Violence (physical/mental) is never acceptable.

Narrator: OMG, drink some water when you record! The sound of spit in your mouth that is caught by the mic is revolting. You recorded this in 2005, I think, when it was still reel-to-reel, so you probably would have had an engineer working with you. How neither of you caught the spitty sounds is a mystery to me.

If you are looking for charming, period HAE (happily ever after) books with spirited female characters, try Georgette Heyer. No sex as these books were written about 100 years ago, but terrific (and often very amusing) dialogue, accurate depictions of the clothes, homes, and customs of the 'ton'. I would start with Sylvester if you've not read her books before.
