Great information

I enjoyed the audio, wish it had more on type 2 . kinda bummed that steel cut oats are no longer the holy grain for breakfast, After reading Starch solution and How not to Diet I started love eating oatmeal for breakfast now I am advised to phase out the oat meal for fresh fruit

An excellent audiobook!

I've tried the methods in this book. They WORK! Keep the fat down and a big fruit bowl for breakfast is NO PROBLEM!

Life changing information

Hey everyone, this is Robby here. I wrote and read this book with my co-founder Cyrus Khambatta, PhD. Is it weird to review our own book? Yes. But I'm cool with being weird. It's 12:22 am PT on publication day. I just heard. Dr. Neal Barnard read the foreword for the first time. It's a surreal experience, to be honest. I hope you love this book. A Complete Guide

As I listened to the audiobook, every question that popped into my mind on a topic was literally answered in the upcoming sentences. I greatly appreciate all the details and explanations that helped me understand insulin resistance and what I can do about it. While trying to transition to a low fat WFPB diet, I have had trouble knowing what a meal should look like in terms of portion size. This is the first resource I've read that answered that question. Love, love , love the meal plan that includes simple to prepare meals. The book is so practical, that I for the first time, I feel like this is doable. It is obvious this comes from lived experience. Thank you Cyrus and Robby!

Absolutely Revolutionary Book!!!

One of the best books I have ever read!!! Reading this book will teach you the single most powerful thing you will ever learn about diabetes! Challenges everything you thought you knew, and explains the shocking truth about what actually causes insulin resistance and how to reverse it permanently, backed by almost 100 years of rock solid scientific evidence! Highly recommend this to anyone and everyone looking to live a long healthy life free of diabetes and other chronic diseases as well! As a bonus, getting to listen to it on Audible, narrated by the authors themselves, is just so awesome!

Life Changing Book

I am a type 1.5 diabetic and as a result of what I learned in this book I lost 15 pounds in three weeks, eliminated my daily 2000 mg of metformin (with doctor approval) and reduced my need for insulin by over 50 % to roughly 26 units a day. Well written and easy to follow. Much thanks and appreciation to the authors!!

Now I have convince my husband to read this!

What an amazing book. I don't have diabetes but I am glad I read it. My husband has type 1 and I care for my special needs sister who has type 2 and I found it very helpful in understanding what I can do to help them both manage their insulin sensitivity. I honestly think that everyone should read this book. My husband loves meat and red light foods so it will be difficult to get him on board, but I hope he will at least give it a try and see what results he gets.

Not suited to audio

This isn’t a book to listen to. It is dense with statistics interspersed with anecdotes. It is difficult to follow as it references notes and charts. The authors are both type 1 diabetics and their comprehension of the experience of type 2 is not great. Basically they are forks over knives. While it seems a great theory, it did nothing for me.

It Works!

It works! Thank you! I had long suspected that my slim 41year old husband suffered from diabetes (his entire family on his fathers side is either pre-diabetic or diabetic). He refused to go to the doctor or let me test his blood sugar. (He's in denial -if he doesn't get diagnosed he doesn't have it). 9-20-2020 he finally let me test him (He had problems with his right hand tingling and lost 90% of his strength in that arm -this went on for almost 2 weeks) for years he has had zero energy, He could barely stay awake anywhere the only place he didn't fall asleep was his motorcycle. Scary, I know. (Our kids joked that he had narcolepsy) and in the last 7-8 months he'd unintentionally lost 15-20lbs, 30lbs total in the last 2½ years. For the last several years he also had a very negative outlook on life. Anyways, 9-20-2020His fasted blood glucose was 398 @ 9am. 2 hours after eating it was 565. I know he should have been rushed to the hospital. I agree completely. He refused. He told me to fix him. (I agreed to try as long as it was steadily going down with the condition that if it got even close to 500 again that he'd check himself in right away). I've been whole food plant based for over 5 years and have a passion for learning as much as I can about health & nutrition. Fast forward 10-01-2020 (this morning was his 11th fasted reading) His fasting glucose was 152 @ 5am. Thats a drop of 246. I haven't worried about testing him 2 hours after eating because it is going down so rapidly. He eats a large breakfast. Goes to work at first break he eats 2 large red apples and maybe 2-3 handfuls of raisins. At lunch break he might have a veggie sandwich on rye bread, probably 30 green grapes and 3-5 med-large bananas. He gets tested after work- 3 hrs after lunch and his glucose readings for the past 4 days have all been 94-97. (all this eating upwards of 600 carbs per day) He has so much energy now and feels amazing. His mood is greatly improved (he's not such a grump).The strength in his hand and arm returned and the tingling is gone. Also his eyesight seems to be improving. He plans on going to the optometrist soon to find out if he can get a lighter prescription. If I can figure it out (I'm technologically impaired). I'll update this to show his progress. The power of plants is Amazing! As is the human body at being able to heal itself once you stop constantly injuring it. While I am quite certain all of this should have been done under a doctors supervision. I am more than pleased he was able to turn it around so quickly and all without the potentially damaging effects of medication.

Life changing!

Excellent resource for those struggling to master their diabetes. As a Type 1 diabetic for 15 years, this book completely changed my approach. I’ve seen tremendous improvements and am enjoying the process.
