this story calls to me such a brilliant historical novel. I love all of Bryce Courtenays books. A very touching story I read the book years ago and enjoyed the audio book just as much. Absolutely wonderful.

The story tells of how a drunkard and an 11-year-old boy met in Sydney, and how the story of Trim, Matthew Flinder’s cat drew them together. Well-researched - not just the tales of Trim but also about drink addicts and other darker forces in society.

This story was very well researched and it is narrated beautifully. Although there are some episodes of violence, They are nowhere near as graphic as some of his other books.
