Amazing Lecture Series

I don't often feel moved to write reviews, but this lecture series is extremely well done. Douglas Gentile is an excellent speaker who is easy to listen to. The content is very eye opening, as media is always around us, and sometimes we forget to be more critical of it. I struggle, even though I have a BA in media studies! I was so moved about his lecture on books that I ran to the library to grab some books to increase my child's reading to 1 hour per day as a goal as it is so highly correlated with doing well in school. I feel deeply troubled about the clear negative effects of media aggression on children, but I was able to take his advice to feel empowered in my own life. I bought a visual timer for my child's tv viewing to meet pediatric recommendations, I unsubscribed from Netflix, and told my children that they can instead choose anything they want from the TVO kids app, which has curated a list of positive shows for kids. I made sure to share what I learned with other parents, as that is the best we can do. Highly recommend.
