Story
I can’t believe I have to go home to Nebraska for my sister’s wedding. I’m gonna need a wingman and a whole lot of vodka for this level of family interaction. At least my bestie agreed he’d man up and help. Too bad he had to catch a different flight than me. Then, his plane got delayed. And finally - because bad things always happen in threes - instead of my best friend, his evil twin walks out of the airport. If you looked up doesn’t-deserve-to-be-that-confident, way-too-hot-for-his-own-good billionaire in the dictionary, you’d find a picture of Grady Holt. He’s awful.

Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in...well, everything. Her identical twin sister, Amy, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag), and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

Kristen Petersen doesn't do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don't get her. She's also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children. Planning her best friend's wedding is bittersweet for Kristen - especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He's funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family.

You always remember your first love. Don't you? It began with four words. "I love your laugh." But that was 12 years ago. It really began the day Georgina was fired from The Worst Restaurant in Sheffield (TripAdvisor) and found The Worst Boyfriend in the World (Georgina's best friends) in bed with someone else. So when her new boss, Lucas McCarthy, turns out to be the boy who wrote those words to her all that time ago, it feels like the start of something. The only problem? He doesn't seem to remember Georgina at all.

My name is Ryan Kingston, and I’m a rule follower. I’ve never been in a fistfight. I always obey the speed limit. I don’t get drunk, and I definitely don’t pick up random women at bars. Except the night I found out that my whole existence has been a lie. I got drunk. And picked up a stranger. Her name was Queenie, and she was everything I’m not: reckless, impulsive, and chaotic. We did shots and traded secrets. And ended up naked at my place. Six weeks later I’m sitting in the first official team meeting of the season, and there she is.

Can you fall in love like they do in the movies? It's Evie Summers' job to find out. Because if she can't convince her film agency's biggest client, Ezra Chester, to write the romantic-comedy screenplay he owes producers, her career will be over. The catch? He thinks rom-coms are unrealistic - and he'll only put pen to paper if Evie shows him that it's possible to meet a man in real life the way it happens on the big screen. Cynical Evie might not believe in happily ever after, but she'll do what it takes to save the job that's been her lifeline.

Publisher's Summary
The New York Times best-selling author of Pucked and The Good Luck Charm delivers a Hollywood happily ever-after where a famous heartthrob falls for his ultimate fangirl.
"As charming as its title, but it's also so much more.... Fans of Jasmine Guillory's The Wedding Date and Helen Hoang's The Kiss Quotient will love Meet Cute." (The Washington Independent Review of Books)
Kailyn Flowers was always calm, rational, and controlled - until she ended up sprawled all over Daxton Hughes, the former actor she totally crushed on as a teenager. Then she did the unthinkable: She became a mortifying fangirl in five seconds flat, which may or may not have included professing her undying love. And oddly, he didn't run away. In fact, their meet cute led to a friendship she never saw coming. Of course, she never saw his betrayal coming, either....
Now Dax needs her help. As guardian to his 13-year-old sister, he's in way over his head. And though Kailyn hasn't forgiven Dax, she isn't heartless enough to make him fend for himself, either. Soon their friendly meetings turn into flirty dinner dates, and Kailyn can feel their chemistry is as explosive as ever. But how can she possibly let down her guard again to a guy who has heartbreak written all over him?

Don't waste the credit.
This is by far the worst book I've listened to in a long time. Performance was fine, story was simplistic and predictable. This feels like it should be a young adult story except the unnecessary sex scenes. This wasn't worth the credit.

Nice story, easy to listen to. Wasn’t a fan of the male voice for Dax; but that’s probably just me. He came across as cocky and as a result he kind of annoyed me a bit. Still enjoyed it though, worth a listen.

Some serious eye rolls but overall it was nice
Listened to this book in a day after I discovered I probably have to be in quarentine for yet another 14 days after potentially being exposed to covid. So thank you for giving something to fill my brain today. I love the occasional flirty love story where single lonely girl meets her one and only true love. BUT I can't get over how the two main characters totally objectify each other. For two people who have earned their very successful lives they say and do some stupid stuff. Kaylin is a successful lawyer...... Yet also so so shallow when venting to her infitinely wiser best friend or thinking about her libido. Dax is equally shallow. He's your typical perfect looking wealthy man who always either has a beer in his hand or finding some excuse to be super mad. And he's famous to boot. The whole thing is a bit much to process. More like a fairy tale than something a single lonely girl can hope to obtain. Where the love story is involved it's like Netflix tried to remake an original version of Bridget Jones' Diary (which I might add is perfect and doesn't need remaking). I find both of the main characters' behaviours are inconsistent and don't quite reflect how the author might have intended. Smart, strong, kind is often flipped with obtuseness, alcohol, and pettiness (I say pettiness because when does either of these characters give a damn about their friends after dumping all their crap on them?) The sincere essence of this books message about greif and bereavement is uplifting and on point. The portrayal of money hungry aunt preying on weak family members unfortunatly is also on point. Well done there.

I laughed cried and sighed while listening to Meet Cute. Helena Hunting knows how to write a story, and Teddy Hamilton and Holly Warren know how to tell it. Teddy is always brilliant, but he shines here. Holly Warren is fast becoming a favorite. Highly recommend this touching book about family, loss and love.

Absolutely loved this book. I needed something light hearted, that would make me laugh but that was also serious at the same time. This book filled in everything I needed. It’s described as second chance m, enemy to love romances and it was, with tragedy and learning how to deal with it, taking on the responsibility of a teenager also dealing with tragedy. When Dax had to go to CVS I died, literally laughed through the whole scene and even after. Loved it! Teddy Hamilton’s voice can melt butter , also enjoyed Holly Warren’s narration. Great pairing

what a great listen, love these narrators
got tissues? u might need them with this read??! or maybe i am just a more sensitive person? i feels. i am compassionate, caring and this weighs on the total emotional side. totals. i gotta give both sides of my feels ... meaning like the cover kind of gives u one feel, a bit of a mixed message or 2? (and i totally love that cover, it is just priceless, who ever did it, GENIUS! the fonts, it all is so fun, fun, FUN!!) but then when u read (i listened to by Audible, audio book) it is a totally different ...not a problem ... 'cause Helena Hunting is one my go 2 authors. i enjoy her writing style ... she just pulls ya in. this is a heavy read (more heavy than most of her reads, every one of her characters usually has a deep past, some dark, so not so happy, but this is an emotional read) at times ... i don't wanna give anything away ... but i remember as a kid thinking about my own parents ... what if ... i love my Uncle ... but he could never be my parent. i feel for parents. the responsibilities??! i appreciate how Helena is able to go to different sides, genres, feels, etc. like this is totally not Pucked Series (not that it was meant to be, but u can see her styles in each of her books, check them out, please!!) ... meaning i appreciate she is doing new genres ... or trying a new of writing styles/genres ... does that make sense? hope so. like the Shacked Up is more hunk hunky (like come on we all could use a hunk guy for some eye candy, lol!!). Daxton Hughes ... what is it about that name? fun how authors are always thinking of the greatest names. Helena is one of may favorite Canadian authors. she rocks!! and i will always read more from her.

Review of narrator
I loved this book! What I didn’t like at all was when the female narrator also narrated for the male character. BUT then there was also a male narrator that spoke for the male character at times so it became confusing. I would have preferred it was consistent and either the female narrating the entire story or the female doing female character and male doing male character voice. Still would recommend the book!!

Great Story
I really enjoyed this book, it was nice and upbeat for the most part. The main characters were awesome! I really liked the female protagonist (Kalene? I think I spelled it wrong... woops!) Also the main male protagonist Dax was a nice change, instead of someone that is all alpha male and pushy-ness Dax was sweet and caring! They were really cute together! And I loved Emi! She was really sweet! Definitely worth the credit if you want something more light hearted and sweet! (Don’t get me wrong there’s drama, but not the overwhelming amount that causes me anxiety😁).

Loved!
I really loved this one! I expected a cutesy story about a fan-girl and her celebrity crush, but it was so much more. It was cute, but also packed with a lot of heart and a dash of heat. Just an all-around feel-good romance that was exactly what I needed.

Keeper!
I listened to this on audio book over several days and LOVED it. From the beginning when Kailyn Flowers is walking across campus on the way to class and is crashed into by the formidable Daxton Hughes and she has a total meltdown because it turns out he was her childhood crush as he was a childhood star on her favorite TV show. After all that, she turns up at class and the only seat left ends up next to Dax. They spend the next few years in law school together challenging each other and now years later Dax and his parents are in Kailyn's office needing her help to set up a trust. She is not pleased as she does not have good feelings for Dax but he is thrilled to see her again. A few weeks later his parents are killed in an auto crash and he is devastated but has to step up when he has to take care of his 13-year-old sister. After the funeral he seeks out Kailyn for answers on the trust and for guidance and one thing leads to another and she is appointed conservator for Emma. This brings them all in close quarters and feelings are jumbled and confusing on all fronts. Their aunt is suing for custody and Emma is spiraling in anxiety. Through all this Dax and Kailyn are slowly finding their way. This was a well thought out story and listening to it had me laughing and gasping for them. I definitely recommend this one!

Meet Cute
This has been on my want to read shelf for a while; I finally bite the bullet I am so glad I did. I wanted a sweet cute type of romance and I got that but it was so much more too. It was emotional and thought-provoking. I really enjoyed the characters and their struggles. I will say I kind of wished Kailyn had opened up about herself to Dax more. She learns so much about him but we only learn about her through her inner monologue not really her talking about her past. It felt a little one-sided. I really liked the connection between Kailyn and Emme, Dax’s 13-year-old sister. The whole storyline was gripping. I loved the narration!
