The original “jeep” was created in the 1940s, when the U.S. Army realized it didn’t have a modern car that could run on farmland, through mud, and across streams. This is the story of how people came together to create a new car that could carry soldiers and supplies just about anywhere, but was small and light so it could be packed up and sent halfway around the world.
