Publisher's Summary

Edited by Dr. Michael Newton, the best-selling author of Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, Memories of the Afterlife is a collection of fascinating true accounts from around the world, handpicked and presented by life-between-lives hypnotherapists certified by the Newton Institute.

After recalling memories of their afterlife, the people in these studies embarked on life-changing spiritual journeys - reuniting with soul mates and spirit guides, and discovering the ramifications of life and body choices, love relationships, and dreams by communing with their immortal souls. As gems of self-knowledge are revealed, dramatic epiphanies result, enabling these ordinary people to understand adversity in their lives, find emotional healing, realize their true purpose, and forever enrich their lives with new meaning.

Love the Books, but had to Return

I'm an AVID fan of Michael Netwon and all his amazing books and studies. ....However, Xe Sands, the voice actor in this book is so poor in her performance, that I found myself constantly distracted by the cringe worthy readings.

There's also such a major contrast between the male and female's voice, maybe because Peter Berkot has done most of the other Audio books in the series it's easier to listen to him, but she is ...brutal.

Many questions, few answers

We all start out with many questions and few answers. Its nice to know that we will have a chance to benefit from our mistakes and make use of all we have learned in this lifetime. Otherwise, what would be the point?

I was curious about our ability to remember even events in this life, so I thought I'd try a little test by trying to remember the name of a childhood friend. I'm now over 80 years old and I last saw him in our early teens. At first it seemed I could only guess at his first inital and tried what I thought would be his first name, but without success. then the next day, without really trying, it came to me as his first and last name.

Facinated by how this happened, I thought I'd try seeing how much I rememered about my other friends of that time period. I was amazed at the result: full names, musical instrument played, home street names, sibling names, parent's occcupation, parent's vehicles make model and colour, their pets and pet's name, etc.
This was followed by remembering shared events and some of my thoughts at that time.

So how far back does this go? Well, apparently with the help of a regression hypnotist, much further than we realize. I'm just going to have to add a regression session to my bucket list.

I recommend reading this book and the narration seemed excellent. Enjoy!

WhisperWhisperWhisper

Michael, I love the sound of your voice. I love your stories. Could you PLEASE be louder and stop mumbling and whispering?! It's driving me to insanity. I bought an audio book to listen to. What is the point if I Can't Hear You?! I've turned up the volume and I still can't hear your mumbling/whispers.

Fascinating exploration

I've been studying life after death and NDEs for years, but this was the first book I've listened to that focused on the time between lives. I loved it!

A very enjoyable experience

i see that some readers complained about the female narrator but I do find her wonderful!! I enjoyed listening to both of the narrators. I adore this book and will always cherish it as one of my collections :)

Someone needs to get fired...

Someone needs to get fired, dismissed without reference, for the audio production of this book. I don't blame the narrators, since both the male and female narrators, use the same breathless, idiotic delivery. It's the sing-song voice adults use to talk baby talk to infants. Let me ask you this, would a physics book be performed this way? I hated it so much this book sat in my library for about six months, even though I'd enjoyed Michael Newton's earlier work, until I realized that I could put the book on "faster" speed and that helped a little bit. At least enough so that I was able to listen to it.

Still, if you have a choice, get the written version of this. You'll thank me.

Great info Poor Reading

If you could sum up Memories of the Afterlife in three words, what would they be?

I did not like the way they narrated the book. With two readings and needing to narrate a dilogue why not use one reader for each part. Also they drop their voice so low you can't hear it in a car. Portraying emotions is well and good, but pointless if I can't hear it.

Good content, poor narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the paperback as I didn't like the way the female narrator read her part. Her tone wasn't always consistent with what was happening during the LBL sessions--such as when a client was recalling a past life trauma. I found this irritating and distracting as it didn't seem like she was genuinely into it. I enjoyed this book when I read it but was disappointed with this audio version.

SOOOOOO Boring

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Some more excitement in the narration. I have listened to other Michael Newton books but this was just so monotone and boring. It really is painful to listen to although I am very interested in the content.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Haven't reached it yet. I'm not sure if I will finish.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narration is one (slow) pace and really boring.

HORRIBLE Production!!!!

I wished I had heeded the warnings of other reviewers! The production is soooo bad, I'm not sure I can get past it, to absorb the actual material... it's that bad.
First, production is something I know... professionally... 40+ years as a recording engineer.
Berkrot gets too wrapped up in character, whispering into inaudibility (blame the producer, and engineer*), followed by full volume on the following sentence.
Xe Sands... my god! The only time I've ever heard someone read that fast was my doctor, dictating medical notes for transcription. She also has an annoying habit of not separating words... like in music, tieing two notes together. Twice, I checked to see if my player's transport was playing at x1.5 speed, or x2!!!
And- the contrast of the two flip-flopping (alternating) cases was akin to relaxing in a hot-tub, only to be dropped unexpectedly into an ice cold river. And slack I may have been inclined to cut her fizzed when she said "liberry", instead of "library". She may have had other narration gigs, but she's no pro. She needs voice lessons... broadcast training would be well worth it.
The production staff ruined this entire project with apathy.
The engineer shoulda flagged the excessive reading speed, but more- shoulda used a compressor/limiter to even out the explosive dynamic range of Berkrot's performance.
The listener should not have to 'ride the gain' just to hear the program material.

Voice narration not as bad as some say...

I was totally prepared to be majorly annoyed by the narration of this book but was pleasantly surprised. It's really not THAT bad. It's not the BEST I've heard but it's definitely not as bad as some people have reviewed. I absolutely intend on listening to it again. I love hearing the hypnosis sessions and find them inspiring and insightful. Love this book!

Who can stand these horrible fake voices.

Oh my gosh. Sample this first. The reader does odd spacing voices and accents for each person. It is so annoying. Ruins the book. A waste of my money.

More great stories of the afterlife

I loved the format of this book with each client's experience in the LBL session format. Sometimes the voice would get so quiet that I couldn't hear what was said, but besides that, it was well-read.
