Our gut is almost as important to us as our brain, yet we know very little about how it works. Gut: The Inside Story is an entertaining, informative tour of the digestive system from the moment we raise a tasty morsel to our lips until the moment our body surrenders the remnants to the toilet bowl. No topic is too lowly for the author's wonder and admiration, from the careful choreography of breaking wind to the precise internal communication required for a cleansing vomit.

It's not you; it's your schedule. Does it sound like magic? It's not. We've all heard of circadian rhythms - those biological processes that give us jet lag and make us night owls or early birds. But few of us know just how profoundly these diurnal patterns affect our overall health. Bad habits - like skipping meals, squeezing in workouts, working late into the night and then trying to catch up on sleep during the weekend - disrupt our natural cycles. A growing body of research on chronobiology reveals just how sensitive the human body is to these rhythms all the way down to the genetic level.

Publisher's Summary
Once upon a time Martians and Venusians met, fell in love, and had happy relationships together because they respected and accepted their differences. Then they came to Earth and amnesia set in: They forgot they were from different planets.
Based on years of successful counseling of couples and individuals, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus has helped millions of couples transform their relationships. Now viewed as a modern classic, this phenomenal book has helped men and women realize how different they really are and how to communicate their needs in such a way that conflict doesn't arise and intimacy is given every chance to grow.
What the critics say
"A valuable, much-needed book. A contribution to the understanding of the communication styles of men and women." (Harville Hendrix, Ph.D., author of Getting the Love You Want)

Boring - I have another recommendation for you
The narrator of this book made this book even more boring. If you want a book on this subject choose "For Women Only" and "For Men Only" and they discuss all of the points in this book and more in a much better way.

Good abridgment
This abridged version runs about 90 minutes and covers the key concepts very well without being too repetitive. If you’re already a little familiar with the general ideas (men value independence above feelings, women value community and sharing above ego) then you may find the shorter version is enough. This book is still relevant for couples today, whether you’re only dating, newlyweds, or more seasoned.

Insightful and easy language - a must read!
If you could sum up Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus in three words, what would they be?
Insightful, easy, worth it.
What did you like best about this story?
I found this book very insightful. It was good to hear/read helpful information for both the male and female behaviors. I read some of the reviews where readers found the book "sexist" and I have to totally disagree. The author paid enough attention to both the female and male needs when it comes to relationships and communication, offering concise input for both. The tips provided in the book are practical and easy to execute. I highly recommend any couple and/or single person to read this book.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
TBH I found the narration rather slow and uninviting. however I used the speed-up option to 1.25x and 1.5x and it was much, much better!
What did you learn from Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus that you would use in your daily life?
I learned of the different ways we cope with frustration and love needs. it was easy to go back onto my memories and point out areas where in the past it was hard to understand why as a couple we acted so different when it came to communication, hardships and love language. I could clearly see where the misunderstandings where created while reading the book. Great insight for my current relationship.
Any additional comments?
A must read and the audiobook is short. I listened to it in my car from place to place. will definitely listen to it again over and over. I also suggest reading "The 5 love languages" to complement the information given regarding relationships.

Didn't enjoy it...
It was a ridiculous concept. I thought it would be more sensible and better put than it actually was. I am disappointed and I want my credit back.

sexist and unprofessional
Every time I picked it up I had to remind myself to keep an open mind, but no use. I have no idea how this book became so popular, it is the most sexist dated thing I ever heard and to me it made absolutely no sense, no matter how much I tried to get it.

A MUST READ FOR ANY YOUNG COUPLE
Where does Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Ranks pretty high.
If you could give Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus a new subtitle, what would it be?
A road map into how the minds of men and women are different. Would'nt you like to avoid all those stupid little fights that seem to break out on the way out to dinner Friday night for example.
Any additional comments?
News Flash Men and Women think differently! This book gave me in site on how my wife thinks and how we can communicate much better....
