Story
As Mason strengthens his magic over metal and stone, the Master lurks in the shadows. To lure the Master out and stop his nefarious plot, Mason and his harem of mages and princesses have to do several things: take over the Order of Mages; build a railroad system to connect the kingdoms of Illaria and Cedis; and keep from getting burned by giant, murderous creatures made of flame. Sounds like a piece of cake, right?

Story
Possessed mages are closing in on the capital of Serin, but then Mason discovers the Master has managed to brand a few ogres too, and as everyone is quick to tell him, this is bad news. Very bad. If the Master enslaves the ogres...this war is over before it even begins. So, Mason, his women, and the half-ogre Haragh must travel to Jagruel, the ogre territory, and thwart the Master’s plan of increasing his army. The only problem with their plan is that ogres are more inclined to eat Mason than talk to him.

Story
"Dude! It finally came!" My roommate barely withheld his excitement as he barreled into the living room of our apartment with a package in his hand. "Check it out, Jacob." He smiled as he tore at the brown paper surrounding his purchase. As he ripped the covering off the package, bits and pieces scattered all across the floor of the living room like confetti. For a second, I thought about lecturing Todd about not making a mess of our apartment, but who was I kidding? This place was already a shithole. At least some half-assed confetti would make it feel a little livelier.

Story
It’s been four months since I defeated Ivan Grozny, King of the Nightlords. He ran off with his tail tucked between his legs, and no one has seen anything of the Nightlords since. The Dragon’s Hoard has not remained idle. Two of my mates are days away from giving birth to my children, and I’ve been slowly expanding and perfecting my base while hunting interlopers. I’m starting to think the Nightlords won’t be showing up again, but if there’s one thing about vampires, it’s that they’re hard to put down for good. Myself included.

Good but
(spoilers) i just feel that half of the book is useless story wise, because for half of the book he worked on his useless *golem*. But it s the journey that matter not the destination, so it s still enjoyable.

Manipulation from the shadows
In the second entry in the Metal Mage series Mason, Aurora and Cayla go to help Cedis from the bandits that are harassing the small kingdom. They encounter bandits on their way to the kingdom which sets up the bad guy for the second book and the main threat to Cayla's home. Mason gets to explore more of the world, but most of the world building is more or less put on hold, as he deals with the current threat. The setup for the next book promises to flesh out some more of the world the characters inhabit.
Overall I enjoyed spending time with all the characters and the story this book told. There were a few odd things in the book such as a kingdom with seemingly under 100 soldiers in its army, but the "kings" maybe are just the names for lords in this world since it is some new world we are learning with the main character. The relationship with Cayla, Aurora and Mason is the strength of the book and their interplay and their camaraderie is what pushes the series for me. Also, the "Master" is ever present in the shadows and seemingly manipulating lots of chaotic occurrences in the world.
The narration by Jessica Threet and Christopher Boucher is great and they really deliver great performances throughout. The voices and delivery are all distinct and varied, bringing the world to life. I look forward to anything they narrate in the future. A good follow up for anyone that has read the first book, and it promises an interesting third book.

The continuing Adventures of Mason Flynt
This latest entry in the Metal Mage saga sees Mason, Aurora, and Cayla journey to Cedis to confront the growing crisis. In this volume, Mason learns a couple of new tricks and there's more world building focusing on Cayla's home of Cedis. Overall, the story was great, characters were great as always, the action was thrilling as well, and the voice over did a great job as well, If you like Eric Valls work these audio books are a great buy.

Good but characters need to be consistent within themselves and...
I am enjoying these books.
However, there are a few problems : slightly veiled spoilers
The author has instigated an incredibly short timeline in order to heighten suspense, in my opinion. I also consider it to be a lazy trope. It just makes things less reasonable and the main character behaves stupidly because of it. I would expect the guy to be dead in the first book, or early in this one, and he literally just keeps working himself into the ground day after day and week after week with no clue about anything, but inexplicably (inconvenient for the story) doesn’t cause him any issues at all.
The women are capable but are constantly written to be excluded, often all praise is laid on the guy, to the complete exclusion of the ladies who were instrumental and even critical, and the dickwad goes along with it...doesn’t say a word, doesn’t share the credit, and the ladies don’t bat an eye, seems out of character.
Overall enjoyable though

Stirling engine
It seems that Eric didn't learned the most important thing about the stirling engine. It is very silent! That is why it's used in submarines. A roaring stirling engine must be a magical special!
I do like the story even if I object to thr roaring stirling engine.

Don’t waste your time!
What a disappointment! The first book was entertaining, but this was so D- high schooler it was shocking. Every encounter you hear the Phrase “ fierce grin” and we/ I own them / him payback. The female characters are never developed ( just their bodies and eye rolls). You have these supposed tough females who don’t really do anything. Don’t buy this book you will be disappointed

A terrific sequel
This book takes place very shortly after the first series. This time, Mason and the girls head to Kayla‘s kingdom to try and help it out. Mason‘s power takes an interesting twist and the group welcome a new “member“ to the family! I won’t see much more than this, other than to say, if you like the first book, you’ll love this one as well!
