Possessed mages are closing in on the capital of Serin, but then Mason discovers the Master has managed to brand a few ogres too, and as everyone is quick to tell him, this is bad news. Very bad. If the Master enslaves the ogres...this war is over before it even begins. So, Mason, his women, and the half-ogre Haragh must travel to Jagruel, the ogre territory, and thwart the Master’s plan of increasing his army. The only problem with their plan is that ogres are more inclined to eat Mason than talk to him.

"Dude! It finally came!" My roommate barely withheld his excitement as he barreled into the living room of our apartment with a package in his hand. "Check it out, Jacob." He smiled as he tore at the brown paper surrounding his purchase. As he ripped the covering off the package, bits and pieces scattered all across the floor of the living room like confetti. For a second, I thought about lecturing Todd about not making a mess of our apartment, but who was I kidding? This place was already a shithole. At least some half-assed confetti would make it feel a little livelier.

Publisher's Summary
Mason now has proof the Master is working in Nalnora, but he’s quickly learned that getting elves to cooperate is like herding cats. Dangerous, murderous cats.
So, he has to take matters into his own hands...especially when the elven beauty, Deya, catches his eye.
To keep her, and all these women, safe, Mason will have to walk a razor’s edge as he plays a dangerous political game, learns more about the power of runes, and tries to stay one step ahead of the Master.
And to stay one step ahead, maybe it’s time he upgrade his method of transportation....

Another good one
I really enjoy this author and the narration team. I only have one major critique. "Half-hazard" is not a word, yet it seems to be used every 10 minutes throughout this entire series. The word is "haphazard"
Not a major issue... until its repeated 300 times, then it gets really annoying.

One book with elves was one book to many...
Book 6, introducing the planned upcoming government sanctioned group rape and forced impregnation of the new girl...
Its interesting how angry I can become over an imaginary story. But HOLY SHIT I hate the elves...
In my opinion, the series took a wrong turn when the train story took 2,5 books, and it just continued downhill from there. When the only likable character to appear in 3 books is the new love interest, it gets kind of stale.
The only reason I continue listening is to hear the development of Mason's relationships with the girls.
And as always, Christopher and Jessica preform wonderfully.

It’s a ford just shoot it already!!!!
Seriously I have purchased and listened to most of Eric Vall’s books and they’re usually awesome. However, had this been my first I would have probably never bought another. Six hours to design a vehicle that should just be shot and left for dead? Seriously it’sa Ford... time better spent would have been “I magic the hell out of it and then prayed I could find some duct tape to hold it together.”
He didn’t spend that much time describing how he built Stan, Bobby, and Big Guy combined and I actually love those characters.
Ok, so now that I, and hopefully Mr. Vall, have gotten that out of our system maybe we can get the next book in the series. I love the characters and plot line. I know it’s winding down and so far he’s had a great run with it and I have really enjoyed some of his other and newer series; I just hope he doesn’t just let this one die on the vine now that he’s gotten so close to finishing it.

thanks for enjoyable listen
sometimes books 4,5,6... get watered down but I enjoyed this as much as all the others. some authors leave huge cliffhangers at the end of each book. I guess to make you want more or to get you hooked to find out the end of the story. You can probably tell I am no writer but I enjoy an authors style and development of cool characters, good or bad. Now I just anticipate any book by Eric Vall because I know I wont be pissed at the end or disapointed at the story. The narrators make you forget you are listening to a story and you feel like you are seeing the story. thanks christopher boucher and Jessica Threet.

Pretty decent Installment
I love the Metal Mage series and this one was almost as good as the last one. We spend a lane more time with House Quin (sp?)and a couple of the other houses. Deia features pretty prominent in this book and we even get a glimpse of Rune Magic. If I have one complaint, it is that the Author dedicated a chunk of the book detailing the building of Mason!s latest creation and the book seemed to really drag in those parts. He made up for it with an intense foggy, but still, I feel like he could have just sped through a lot of the creation of the project and spent more time with Mason and the girls!

Love this series but...
I am finding this book hard to listen to. I read/listen to books for positive feelings but I am spending this book constantly worried for Deya. Honestly I’m not liking how the elves in this series really are savages as they were described in the first couple books. I’m pretty sure the author won’t take the series down a dark path with Deya’s fate but he has set it up in such a way that it could at any moment. Ergo, while listening to this book I am in a constant state of anxiety and can’t enjoy the story.
