Publisher's Summary

Is she alive, or is she missing for good?

When the estranged daughter of Scotland's premier art dealer goes missing, Private Investigator Hanlon is hired to find out where Aurora is.

But what she thinks will be a relatively straightforward job soon turns dangerous. The missing girl has a troubled past, but what made Aurora suddenly pack her bags and disappear?

Hanlon has her work cut out for her. The stakes are rising, and she needs to get to the bottom of the case before someone else is attacked.

And is Aurora still alive, or is she missing for good?

A gripping new case for feisty female Private Investigator Hanlon. Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Bryndza and Lisa Regan.

Excellent listen

I confess I do tire of drug related stories, but I did enjoy this one as there was enough other stuff to distract from it.

A great romp though a dark subject

Nicely paced with enough twists to keep it interesting, the second I’ve read and will be reading more !

She’s cool!

I don’t know if I would like the main character if I met her, but she’s amazing, strong and tough. I admire her tenacity, strength and guts. I enjoy the accents the reader uses when speaking for the characters. The book wouldn’t be as enjoyable without the accents!!

Excellent Read

Really talented narrator. Great story. If you like this genre, it is worth the listen. Keeps you guessing and you end up emotionally investing in the characters.

Same Whodunnit Storyline as Book 1

Really well written and thought out story. But almost exact same situation just a different name...becomes a friend quickly, overly nice, asks too many questions. Could see it coming in repeat.

Intrigue

Good story with interesting characters. Had to listen to the first few chapters twice to figure out the characters but after that the story progressed nicely.

Amazing story and perfect presentation

Great story. It was engaging right to the end. I will continue on with the next book in this series. Book 1 and 2 left me wanting more. Looking forward to #3.

Too much accent

The problem with this book is that the narrator has to much accent for me to understand it.

Never Captivated Me

I tried.. I really tried. Having listened to HUNDREDS of Mystery-Thriller audiobooks, I can usually set aside reservations and concentrate on the most enjoyable aspects of more or less *any* book. I think I can furthermore recognize the ones that grab listeners with compelling plots, atmospheric settings, and intriguing characters. This Alex Coombs effort falls flat in all of those spheres: the disappearance of the daughter of a dirtbag political bigwig is pedestrian; the potentially immersive underworld-infused Edinburgh setting comes across as cartoonish & uninteresting; and perpetually combative iron pumping/fist fighting-obsessed ex-Detective Chief Inspector Hanlon is straight-up unlikeable. Despite a workable plot, my efforts to pay close attention to 'Missing For Good' were misplaced.. my mind wandered annoyingly frequently while listening to this story.

Likewise unfortunate: Carolyn Bonnyman's more than capable professional narration (exhibiting a great natural Scottish accent and truly excellent voice-acting, for example) tries to elevate the text, but comes across as monotonous and faintly bored overall.. inadvertantly contributing to the ho-hum impression that I got from the recording. Bonnyman has a ridiculous habit of including looooong pauses in the middle of dialogue (increasing the playback speed to 1.20X helped somewhat - if you elect to download this product, I recommend adjusting the reading rate).

Altogether, this recording merits a disappointing 4.5 stars out of 10. The first book in the 'P.I.Hanlon' detective series was quite a bit better than this one - possibly even worth your Credit - but this installment was appropriately made available as a 'Plus' selection (included with your membership). Spend your money on something else.
