Publisher's Summary

How do our thoughts and emotions affect our health? Are our bodies and minds distinct from one another or do they function together as parts of an interconnected system? Candace Pert - a neuroscientist whose extraordinary career began with her 1972 discovery of the opiate receptor - provides startling and decisive answers to these and other challenging questions that scientists and philosophers have pondered for centuries. From explaining the scientific basis of popular wisdom and phenomena like "gut feelings" to making comprehensible recent discoveries in cancer and AIDS research, Molecules of Emotion is an intellectual adventure of the highest order.

Very interesting!

I enjoyed this book even though it was very technical and a lot of it went over my head! I really enjoyed Candace’s journey and the conclusion that wellness is really made up of several aspects. Emotions and spiritual beliefs play a big part. Mind body awareness is so very important! I recommend this read for everyone!

Misleading

I was really excited to listen to this one, but there was so much scientific exposition that just when I thought were were going to dive into the discussion of emotion the book ended! It felt like it needed another few chapters. I Understand from other reviews that this is an abridged version, so maybe what I was hoping for is in the full version? Overall disappointing- I felt like there was no payoff.

Not what I was expecting

Too much science to my liking. The book dives into plenty of scientific researches that is difficult to enjoy or follow unless you are a doctor.

Author discusses her career

Not what I wanted. Author spends much of audiobook detailing her career. Not helpful or useful.
