Publisher's Summary

I'm Maxon Reed - real estate mogul, shark, asshole. If a deal isn't high-profile and big-money, I pass. Now that I've found the property of a lifetime, I'm jumping. But one tenacious bastard stands between me and success - my brother. I'll need one hell of a devious ploy to distract cynical Griff. Then fate drops a luscious redhead in my lap who's just his type.

Sassy college senior Keeley Kent accepts my challenge to learn how to become Griff's perfect girlfriend. But somewhere between the makeover and the witty conversation, I'm having trouble resisting her. The quirky dreamer is everything I usually don't tolerate. But she's beyond charming. I more than want her; I'm desperate to own her. I'm not even sure how drastic I'm willing to get to make her mine - but I'm about to find out. Contains mature themes.

A more 'vanilla' SB story with excellent plot

SB doesn't disappoint with yet another great storyline. A relatable story that breaks the "romance " mold -it's not predictable or cheesy. More "vanilla" compared to the Wicked series.

Good, but tame

Sweet romantic book and good story, but if you’re looking for a hot romance, keep scrolling. One semi-hot scene at the beginning of the book. The rest was just the plot with barely any romance at all.

Loved Maxon!

I started this series out of order with book 3 and I've loved how fiercely protective Maxon has been of Keeley. I just had to come back to book 1 and read their beginning. I will admit, I was a bit nervous because they kept emphasizing how he almost lost her and that had my imagination running wild. The reality was much better.

Maxon was pretty smitten right from the start. I never doubted his feelings for Keeley and that's what I love to see. It helps that the book is mainly in his POV. Keeley was harder for me to like. She was too sweet but also too self righteous. For a woman so young, she really thought she knew what was best for everyone else.

I liked the little twist at the end. I liked this more with that added surprise. Now I really need to get to book 2 cause I have no idea how Griff is going to fix what he did to Britta.

I own the kindle book but I really wanted to listen to the audio book so I borrowed this on the Audible Romance Package. The narrator was pretty great. I highly recommend the audiobook.

So many lies!

This book had a lot of drama. There were times where I just did not want to continue because the main character, Maxon, was a jerk. His inner monologue was telling the reader that he wanted the woman of his dreams, Keeley, however his outward actions stated another. I just did not know what to think when it came to him. Part of me wants to like him but his ambition just made me want to punch him in his throat. I enjoyed Keeley and I think she was a wonderful heroine. She was super patience with everyone she came in contact with. She was a saint in this book.

This story was well written but the way Maxon was portrayed just turned me off. Also everyone was playing games with one another. I just needed everyone to just be honest about their feelings and their attentions.

Steamy and Heartwarming

Okay I will admit it, I read this series out of order so I sort of knew what to expect going into this book but not totally so there were still some big revelations.

I LOVE Keeley and I knew I would because I really liked her in the other books I read, but, this story shines a light on her that makes me LOOOOOVE her even more!

It's hard when family doesn't talk to one another and it's even harder when you have been deceived by someone you blindly trusted which is the case for Maxon. My heart broke for him.

Shayla Black not only writes steamy stories that make you hot under the collar she writes stories that pull at your heartstrings and this one is no different. Keeley and Maxon will have you rooting for them right from the beginning. The narration is done by Christian Fox and he did a wonderful job with bringing this steamy story to life. Happy Reading or Listening whichever you prefer I promise you wont be disappointed!!!

Maxon Reed! Oh, my!!!

What a great story. Maxon and Keely are immediately attracted to each other. Maxon, used to having his way with a certain type, can't explain his need to have Keely, but he isn't fighting it. Keely, a free spirit, isn't usually attracted to Maxon's Type A personality. Once Maxon decides and accepts that Keely is what he wants, nothing will keep him from her...or so he thinks. I'm not a fan of angst, but there's some in this story, but it's well-placed, and didn't detract from the story for me. Hot, steamy, and a bit complicated.

Christian captures these characters beautifully. I love the alpha males that Shayla creates, and I'm really enjoying this series. Can't wait to dive in to Maxon's brother, Griffith's story.

Disappointed

I'm a fan but this book just didn't measure up IMO to the author's other works. Maybe I'll try again at a later date.

Good Bit....

This was a good listen, but what I didn't like was the studdering in emotional situations from the characters. Saying crap in their heads and not saying it out loud. These are supposed to be professionals who does business with high powered clients, but you lag on what you have to say to another person.

🌻Ended too abruptly 😭!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

This novel has an emotionally scarred and stunted Hero and especially enlightened Heroine. The Hero grows, emotionally, through the book, however,he definitely suffers a lot of growing pains. Conversely, the Heroine has and old soul with the wisdom to go with it. She has a lot of enlightened dialogue that made me look at my own life critically. There are a bunch of stumbles, along the way but they do make it to a HEA.

My biggest issue is the way the boom just ended; there wasn’t even an epilogue. It would have been nice to get a glimpse into this couple’s future.
