Publisher's Summary

The first volume in a stunning trilogy set in the world of Arthurian legend and told from the perspective of its traditional antagonist, Morgan Le Fay.

Even as a girl Morgan has always been wild, like the seas which batter the cliffs beneath her home, Tintagel Castle. But she has always been safe, too.

Then one day her father is called away to a war from which he does not return. In his place comes the High King, Uther Pendragon, with the sorcerer Merlin lurking in his wake. Uther claims Morgan’s mother, the Lady Igraine as his queen.

Now, in a world of knights and chivalry where she is all but voiceless, Morgan is faced with a choice: to follow her own fierce intelligence or to submit to the limitations powerful men would place upon her. She cannot, she will not choose submission.

So begins this richly told debut from Sophie Keetch, which traces Morgan’s journey to adulthood. She will fall in love with a man saved from the sea. She will defy kings and suffer the consequences. At times she will almost despair. But ultimately she will discover a power in herself that even Merlin is awed by–a power that will give her control of her own destiny and which see her join Arthur at Camelot.

And even this is only a beginning…

What the critics say

"An enthralling new take on the Arthurian legend, beautifully written, superbly narrated." (The Times)

"Evocative, haunting and utterly addictive, this is a book to lose yourself in." (Tracy Borman, author of The King's Witch)

"Keetch’s Morgan does not disappoint … literally fire and a perfect harbinger of the woman Morgan is destined to become!" (Stacey Thomas, author of The Revels)

"This is the Arthurian legend as you rarely see it: told not by Uther, Arthur or Merlin, or indeed their male champions, but by the complicated woman they condemned. Keetch's Morgan is vulnerable, courageous and defiant. She makes the legend hers, and I can't wait to accompany her on the next part of the journey. For lovers of the untold story, Morgan Is My Name is a convincing and compelling read." (Lucy Holland, author of Sistersong)

lovely

Very well written and narrated! The story starts with Morgan as a child but the book is not childish like I find so many popular books on Audible. The writing is superb, it reminds me a little of "The Lost Queen" by Signe Pike.
I can't wait for book two.

Just do it! Loved every minute of it.

While this isn't my usual genre of choice.... I could not be happier to have chosen it. I finished it in two days. I loved it. I have already added the second installment to my wishlist, only wishing that I didn't have to wait for more. Well read and preformed. Harrowing and beautiful.

I loved it!

If you love a good read - or in this case, a good listen - along with the mix and flavor of female historical fiction with fantasy, then give this a try! It was well worth my time, transporting me to a different time and place, giving me a great escape when desired, and all there beckoning, ready, waiting, and inviting, at the simple touch of my phone’s button!

Really wonderful story

Having never actually read any of the stories about King Arthur I barely knew of any of the characters so this tale came to me completely fresh and wonderful. I adored Morgan, her ladies, and most of all the entire story. Morgan is such a great strong heroine; I will definitely be keeping this tale in my library!

great story!

I loved this book. I downloaded it, not knowing what to expect and really enjoyed it. I kept finding extra time to keep listening to find out what would happen next. I highly recommend this story. I was sad to see it end, the characters felt so real.

Slow build up.

Morgan Is My Name required a bit of time, and build up, for me to get excited about it. The opening of the story, about Morgan’s childhood and convent education was somewhat dull for me, and the author didn’t really cover any new ground, nor was there anything terribly inventive in the narrative.

Once Morgan married Urien of Gorre, and begins her public life as Queen, things become increasingly more interesting, and Keetch begins to take some risks in her retelling. The last quarter of the book really takes off, and Keetch begins to show her skill as a writer, and world builder.

While the narration is good, I did have to speed it up to 1.2x, as I found Kirby’s narration, while beautifully performed, a bit plodding at times. I think this one is definitely for fans Mary Stewart’s and Marion Zimmer Bradley’s works about Morgan Le Fay and King Arthur.

Unparalleled

A really incredible feminist retelling of an old villainess. The narrator does a wonderful job and the story is captivating.

Sequel Please!!

Oh wow! I really enjoyed this one! Enough to actually write a review! I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t know what to expect but I’d run out of credits and had decided to take a chance on an author I knew nothing about. I’d seen many a movie or show pertaining to Morgan, King Arthur and the like but never from this point of view. Such a rich story and so well read! I’ve enjoyed every minute!
