Publisher's Summary

Things get textual when a steamy message from a random wrong number turns into an anonymous relationship in this hilarious rom-com by Lynn Painter.

Bad luck has always followed Olivia Marshall...or maybe she's just the screw-up her family thinks she is. But when a "What are you wearing?" text from a random wrong number turns into the hottest, most entertaining - albeit anonymous - relationship of her life, she thinks things might be on the upswing....

Colin Beck has always considered Olivia his best friend's annoying little sister, but when she moves in with them after one of her worst runs of luck, he realizes she's turned into an altogether different and sexier distraction. He's sure he can keep his distance, until the moment he discovers she's the irresistible Miss Misdial he's been sort of sexting for weeks - and now he has to decide whether to turn the heat up or ghost her before things get messy.

What the critics say

"This book made me burst out laughing while on the treadmill and I almost lost my balance and fell to my demise. So. Don't read it while running on the treadmill, because you WILL explode with laughter at Olivia's terrible luck, and you will absolutely swoon over Colin, and you will definitely fall in love with the two of them and root for them with all of your heart. One of my favorite romcoms, heavy on the 'com' and steamy on the 'rom'!"—Jesse Q. Sutanto, author of Dial A for Aunties

"Filled with laugh-out-loud situations and moments of heart-fluttering swooniness, Mr. Wrong Number is a true romantic comedy. I loved reading about Olivia's messy, passionate approach to life. And the sexual tension was off the charts! I'll read anything Lynn Painter writes and I'm already impatiently waiting for her next book."—Kerry Winfrey, author of Very Sincerely Yours

“If you’re in the mood for a laugh-out-loud, sexy rom-com about an unlucky young woman who moves in with her brother (and her brother’s hot roommate) while she attempts to get her life together—look no further. Painter’s hilarious voice and vibrant characters are a breath of fresh air in this highly enjoyable romance.”—BuzzFeed

Cute

This book was very cute. It is exactly what you would expect and the actors are very pleasant to listen to.

Predictable but cute

Narration was good, especially text conversations as they were done by both narrators, but the story was way too predictable.

Unsatisfying

My two favorite things were missing in this story: character growth and comeuppance. It just made the whole ending unsatisfying for me. (Super minor spoilers). What’s the point of having to hard to please parents repeatedly pop up if you’re not even going to give me the satisfaction of having them eat crow? And Liv actually *was* a bit of a “freeloading free spirit” unapologetically drinking/eating other peoples things, sleeping in their beds…I just found her to be immature and didn’t think she grew out of any of her immature habits by the end. Now we’re supposed to celebrate them bc she’s just embracing life? Home girl thinks it’s okay for her to lie about things but gets all on her high horse when she’s lied to? I was unimpressed by her lack of self reflection/improvement over any of her actions.

Nope

I can’t even finish it. I’m three and a half hours into the eight and a half hour book and said nope.
The main character makes me want to scream. She’s an absolute jerk to her brother and his best friend that are letting her live with them rent free. Constantly is making rude comments to the love interest about his wealth. Lies that she’s a mom so she can get a job writing about being a mom. That was the straw that broke me. There have been zero redeeming qualities of this chick that I’ve found so far.

Disappointed

I’m so disappointed! This sounded like such a book I wanted to read. But it was tragic trying to get through her personality as a female protagonist. She wasn’t charming with her awkwardness, she was just plain irresponsible. It was so cringy to keep listening. It’s a fine line between being an airhead irresponsible and awkward and having bad luck. She definitely leaned towards being irresponsible.

Not worth the read

Main character is so obnoxious. I could barely stand her. The narrator didn’t make it much better. She sounds like one of those mean girls from high school. Will be avoiding her in the future.

Narration is good.. buuut..

Narrators have good voices.. an easy listen. Personally for me, not enough "wrong #" dialog. They barely text.. the reveal was anticlimactic. I liked the idea of this story and the quick wit was good..but I would say 90% of this was a bit boring.

Just ok…

Not the best, not the worst book I’ve read. Just ok, the main character is very whiny and it gets old fast. The male lead is very likable. All in all, not sure if it was worth the credit.

Disappointed

Loved Better than the movies and was hoping this would be as good! But I was very disappointed. Olivia is an annoying character who was hard to feel bad for and I couldn’t get excited for her to have success or fall in love.

I was hoping it was good but it’s not

the main character Olivia is incredibly entitled and self-centered and immature. Colin totally deserves someone better. At first the plot seemed very interesting but the unlikable main character really ruined it and I didn’t like how the family dynamics were toxic as hell and why she would even still be in contact w them

Not my cup of tea

I didn't like the story being told almost entirely in the female protagonist point of view.
I enjoyed the reading by the male, wanted to hear more of how the male protagonist was thinking and also hearing the guy's reading.
