Story
Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle loves everyone, and everyone loves her right back. The Children love her because she is lots of fun. Their parents love her because she can cure children of absolutely any bad habit. The treatments are unusual, but they work! Who better than a pig, for instance, to teach a piggy little boy table manners? And what better way to cure the rainy-day "waddle-I-do's" than hunt for pirate treasure in Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's upside-down house?

Story
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

Perfect for long commutes
My 6 year old daughter just LOVED listening to 'Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle' on our drive too and from school this last week. My only regret is that I spent our credits on other books instead of just getting the entire series. This audio book has "created pictures in my mind", as my daughter would say. She loves talking about 'Polly Parrot' and the other life lessons that are presented in the books. I'm hoping listening to books will foster a life long love of reading. ... Now on to the Ramona series!

Dated
Yes, we remember it fondly from decades ago, but this story is no longer funny or relevent to the concerns of kids or parents. Mrs. P "cures" bad children by tricking them into being "good," i.e. doing housework (for girls, of course), cleaning their rooms, and not being rude.
Reader is just so-so. Don't waste your money.

Perfect for the Car
The chapters stand alone as individual stories, so this is the perfect audio book for the car. The morals are not subtle, but neither are they off-putting. The narrator is quite easy to understand, which is particularly important for kids. My children immediately requested the other books as well.

Light hearted and fun!
I remember reading this when I was young and have enjoyed sharing it with kids as I've gotten older. Who can resist Mrs. Piggle Wiggle? She's the "fairy godmother" all kids dream of at one time or other. Who would love going to an upside down house where you can hunt for treasure, bake cookies, or do any of the other delightful things the kids do at Mrs. Piggle Wiggle's. Would be great for a family road trip!
