Publisher's Summary

Addie Greyborne is preparing for the holidays at her bookstore in seaside New England - but a winter storm is coming, in more ways than one....

Addie's getting into the spirit for the upcoming Charity Auction - especially since she's got an 1843 copy of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol to donate. Her former colleagues at the Boston Public Library have confirmed that its worth runs toward the high five figures, which should help with the new pediatric wing. Her mood darkens, though, when a visitor from the past appears - Jonathan Hemingway, the father of her late fiance. His presence stirs up sad memories for Addie, but also has her fuming when Jonathan, true to his womanizing ways, runs off for a lunchtime liaison with Teresa Lang, who's in charge of the auction.

Soon after, Addie heads to Teresa's office at the hospital - and finds the poor woman's dead body. What she doesn't find is her valuable first edition. What sort of Scrooge would steal from sick children and commit murder in the process? As a Nor'easter bears down and a mystery emerges about Jonathan's past, Addie must find out if she can appraise people's motives and characters as well as she can appraise rare books....

5 stars

Murder in First Edition is an entertaining cozy mystery. There are alot of twists and turns. Addie is a bit annoying because she is a bit of a know it all. Karen White as always is a great narrator and moves the story along. Overall I enjoyed this story and look forward to the next one.

Getting hard to find a good, clean cozy mystery

I could have done without the butt swatting and overly excited descriptions of kisses and breath on necks and so forth. I also dislike the attempt at normalization of living together before marriage. To each his or her own, but I am so tired of having liberal views forced in my face and sex used to sell a book. Believe it or not, writers... some of us want a simple, clean cozy mystery. And if your writing is good and the narrator on point, you would sell books without using sex and liberal agendas to do it.

Not bad but…

The love triangle took away from the rest of the story I was interested in. Bought the next book in the series but then she added a fourth person to the love knot … I returned the book.

IT IS A 5 STAR READ

LAUREN ELLIOTT HAS DELIVERED ANOTHER AMAZING BOOK IN THIS SERIES - THE BEST YET, IN MY OPINION. SEVERAL TWISTS AND TURNS AND MYSTERIES, WHILE STILL GIVING US LIKEABLE CHARACTERS THAT WE CARE ABOUT. KAREN WHITE DID THE STORY JUSTICE WITH HER NARRATION - A KEY FACTOR FOR THE AUDIO BOOK READER. I HAVE ONLY 2 REGRETS - FIRST, I FINISHED THE BOOK MUCH TOO QUICKLY, AND SECOND, ADDIE STILL HASN'T MADE UP HER MIND. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK.

All over the place!!

I wasn’t sure if this was supposed to be a mystery or love triangle book but either way it was irritating. I’m a little tired of listening to wannabe detective audibles. Especially when the wannabe is close to the lead detective and he keeps telling them to stay away from the case but feeds them more and more information. The love triangle just didn’t make sense. Simon was obviously just in it for the game and so was Addie.

A Christmas Carol

Addie donates a first edition copy of Dickens Christmas Carol for a charity auction for a new hospital wing. When the head of the hospital foundation is killed and the book disappears she’s pulled into the most dangerous game in her life. Love, jealousy, greed and forgiveness bring the holidays to a head. Time to face the ghosts of Christmas past. An exciting listen.
