About this listen

Daisy, a widowed mom of two teenagers, is used to feeling protective - so when Iris started dating the wealthy and not-quite-divorced Harvey Fitz, she worried...especially after his bitter ex stormed in and caused a scene at the party Daisy's Tea Garden was catering. Then there was the gossip she overheard about Harvey's grown children being cut out of his will. Daisy didn't want her aunt to wind up with a broken heart - but she never expected Iris to wind up a suspect in Harvey's murder.

Now the apple bread and orange pekoe is on the back burner while the cops treat the shop like a crime scene - and Daisy hopes that Jonas Groft, a former detective from Philadelphia, can help her clear her aunt's name and bag the real killer before things boil over....

Great Cozy Mystery

I enjoyed this book immensely. The narrator was very good. Te plot and characters are well thought out and written. This is the first book I read by the author. I look forward to reading more of her books.

The Right Narrator Can Make or Break a Book

I wish I had gone with my gut when I thought the narrator was boring. She was more worried about pronouncing the words correctly than making the story flow. Made it tedious to listen to. Very little distinction in her tone…therefore the story was boring…

Boring

Sometimes I swear reviewers are being paid to give books four and five star reviews or they’ve been given a completely different book to read than what I’m reading because when a reviewer says it grabs and hold your attention she saying it in a positive way and I’m thinking yeah by how bad it is.

I’m getting tired of all the cosy mysteries being set in bakeries or libraries for tea shops. It’s almost like authors can’t find another place for people to die or for the MC to be. And they seem to not be adept at writing a cosy mystery that doesn’t have hours upon hours of filler, and can get to the point.

A cosy mystery that is almost 9 hours long is no longer cosy it’s just a mystery a thriller, I guess, maybe but it starts to drag at a certain point and no amount of description of tea pots and cups and cakes can make up for a boring and bland story with characters that are annoying.

I didn’t want to put any spoilers in this review so I’ll leave you with this. This book is so boring and non-satisfying that I stopped reading with 53 minutes left to the end and it’s been over a month since I set it aside. I have no desire to even finish the last hour of the book
