Real and Raw

My husband bought the book before its release, and read it in a weekend. I struggled to read 15 chapters, and finally got it to listen to. So fantastic listening to all of the stories by the actual members!! I laughed. I cried. I learned. it's NOFX. you have to come into this with an open mind ❤️

been with then from the jump off

NOFX changed my life, I was given Metallica's ride the lightning for my 6th birthday and it opened me up to fast and heavy. I mean my fave tape until then was hanging tough by the new kids on the block. so needless to say this fucked my six year old mind up! Fast forward to first day of grade 7, my friend passes me a tape, minor threat discography and an I heard they suck live tape. minor threat blew me away, so much so that one of my first bands was a minor threat cover band. but i heard they suck live was a different entity all together. the rawness, the stage banter, the tightness of the band(up until id only heard live albums from guys like kiss and peter frampton. that wasnt the kind of live i was interested in. this wasn't vapidly overproduced this was real, as though i was there in the wings, theres no way to explain it. if somebody asks what it feels like, just say. its NOFX

Great narrative & POV from each band member

Loved how each chapter is band member specific, and narrated (in most cases) by that particular band member. Some shocking reveals thruout. Especially enjoyed Melvin's story. Even if you're not a fan, but enjoy music biographies, well worth checking out. #Audible1

Great Book

Fat Mike tells stories you can barely believe. Then you do. The music scene in Cali was a small world lol.

Punk Rock at It's best!!!

Read this book! If you love music and being in a band read this book! I have been in small go nowhere bands. Even toured the east coast. But what I learned about struggle and hardship, overcoming and love from this book blew me away. And also that nothing is what it seems. Thanks Fat Mike, Smelly, Melvin and Hefe. I feel like I understand you and your music that much more.

Deep, sad, funny, inspirational, scary, educational, insightful, disgusting, and one of the most addictive books I've listened to yet. If you are a fan of NOFX it is deeply satisfying to hear where they came from and what they've been through. Extremely well written and well spoken. Thanks for sharing guys! Love you! Glad you are all still alive and doing well.

Loved these stories

Since the band (and a couple of friends) read the their own book, it was really engaging when they would tell the stories of the small happenings a events, that lead to NOFX as we know them. Being a fan of the band, this was a treat for me. But, if anything, the tales are fun, scary and put things into perspective with early punk culture. The guys putting out this book had to take courage and some long lost emotional stress. Several parts of this book I feel will stick with me for some time. Just because a few topics hit pretty close to home. A great book for anyone. ...maybe anyone.

Says heading optional, but then says required. !!

Disturbing, funny with some sad moments. I couldn't stop listening. And because you are requiring 15 words, here you go.

This book is down for the cause homes!!

Absolutely loved it!! It's like Eric Melvin touched my souls, Smelly Almost brought me to tears, El Jefe made think about my own Mexican family growing up and fat Mike mad me laugh and think about my own vices. Jello and Tommy were great and sincere in there readings. I Fucking love this book and it makes me appreciate NOFX even more. Thank you for both guys, you all did great reading your parts!!

I Laughed, I Cried, I Learned.

This is an amazing book. I heard of NOFX, but never knew their story. This book hooks you from the first chapter. Makes you wonder why and builds from that curiosity.

If you ever wondered what it's like being in a band. I can say from first hand experience. This book is it.

Liked it up to family death and butt plugs.

Lost me at butt plugs. Like I can hang for a bit, but it felt like the last 10% of the book was less about NOFX, and more about Mike's sexual lifestyle. Great book up until that point.

Pretty Much Just Punk.

Great biography! Not just of the band but as a snapshot of a certain facet of the punk community. Everyone tries to pretty up thier past and thier roots while claiming to be true to them as well, not NOFX. They own the past and who and what exists in the scene. There's a surface level scene now that attracts a lighter element. This isn't it. This is the true bottom of the barrel hard luck scene. Judge however you want but this is reality, enjoy it, either from a voyeurs view or as nostalgia.

Oddly Tasteful

I admit I, like Fat Mike, have a skewed barometer for weirdness, but I was pleasantly surprised by the relative classiness of this book. I expected a gnarly series of sensational, braggy stories about tour antics, and there are definitely some good stories, but it's also very well written and enjoyably readable (listenable). NOFX's honesty is refreshing. I never felt like they were trying to impress me with party stories like some douchebags (cough cough Motley Crue ahem). This book is a good time for fans and squares alike. I'd love for someone to curate a version with relevant songs between each chapter.

Wonderful gross punk rock garbage

This book is exactly what you think it is, a steaming pile of shit that is pretty fucking entertaining. I love the band, I love the antics and all the layers of bullshit that come with it.
