Publisher's Summary

The "compulsively irreverent and shockingly funny" (Boston Globe) Tim Dorsey returns with an insanely entertaining tale in which the inimitable Serge A. Storms sees dead people and investigates a creepy urban myth that may be all too real.

Though another devastating hurricane is raking Florida, its awesome power can’t stop the Sunshine State’s most loyal son, Serge A. Storms, from his latest scenic road trip: a cemetery tour. With his best bro Colman riding shotgun, Serge hits the highway in his ’69 gold Plymouth Satellite, putting pedal to the metal on a grand tour of the past. Beginning in Key West, the sunshine boys’ odyssey includes a forgotten mass grave in Palm Beach County holding the remains of African Americans killed by the Great Hurricane of 1928, and the resting place of one world-famous television dolphin (RIP Flipper) from the 1960s.

But one deadland - a haunted old sugar field - holds more than just the bones of those who’ve passed. For years, local children have whispered about a boogeyman hiding among the stalks. Could it be the same maniac known as Naked Florida Man who’s been raising hell all over the place? There are few things Serge loves more than solving a good mystery and bestowing justice on miscreants who sully his beloved home’s good name. With his partner bong boy, Florida’s psycho superhero will find the truth in this hilariously violent delight - packed with history, lore, and plenty of motel antics - from the insanely ingenious Tim Dorsey.

Horrible beyond words

I’m not sure what is worse.

The mind numbingly boring, pointless gibberish, dull beyond words story that goes nowhere, seemingly has no plot, no reason for even being told....

Or..

The narrator, whose voice drones on combining all the subtle nuance of a burlap bag of cats being beaten with a baseball bat. His “character voice”? ( if one could even remotely use that term to describe this god awful narration) ranges from boring and slow, to the hard to imagine even more boring and even more slow.

It’s perhaps the dumbest audio book that has ever been recorded.

This might be the best book in the series!

This book has everything I want in a fiction novel: lovable protagonists, despicable villains, a good plot, lots of action, great narration, and a happy ending. It's wonderful! This may be the best book in the series!

Another fun romp through Florida back country

Another excellent adventure with serge and Colman. Florida History and lore abound. Shady characters and corrupt officials all getting what they deserve.

Quirky and laugh out loud good.

This book is absolutely quirky. It’s hero is insane in a “chaotic good” way.
I’d say it’s an adventure of Patrick and spongebob...if spongebob had spent time in conspiracy theory chat rooms while doing more caffeine than a meth head could handle.

If you’re within driving distance of Florida, it’s travelogue nature is a Huge bonus!

great story, little bumpy on the narration

The choice of character voice for Serge was too cartoonish. Coleman the same. Otherwise solid.

Serge and Coleman Ride again!

This intricate and wacky story is just as funny and twisting as all that’ve come before. Serge and Coleman are as crazy as ever. Keep ‘me coming, Mr. Dorsey!

another winner from Tim Dorsey

I grew up in south Florida just a few years and a few miles from Tim. His books are always fun got me as I know the area. Often the stories inspire nostalgia. This one is right up with his best. Great story and characters.

Story was a little bit weak

Even though I would still recommend this book I think this particular one got a little bit weak as far as the main character and felt a bit rushed towards the end.

Florida History at its Finest

A great rendition of the history of Florida and Lake Okeechobee as only Tim Dorsey can tell it. Serge is at his best with inspired torture rituals. The narration by Oliver Wyman is excellent and make you want to follow Serge’s path around the Lake. Finding gold coins would be a bonus.
Listen to the book, you will really enjoy the story.

If you think Serge did it all, nope ... read this.

The book is great, this Florida line of books is just insuperable (forget Travis what's his name) but not just the content , which for real if you know or heard of Florida you can't dislike. It is also the people reading it. I used to read Dorsey's books myself but one day for a car trip did the audible app and that was it. This guy reading IS the voice of Serge, and don't get me started with Coleman ... ha! only a guy like him would have a rabbit come to his chest.
