About this listen

In 1968 the world experienced a brand-new kind of terror with the debut of George A. Romero's landmark film Night of the Living Dead. This was something new...and terrifying. Since then, zombies have invaded every aspect of popular culture.

But it all started on that dreadful night in a remote farmhouse.

Nights of the Living Dead returns to that night, to the outbreak, to where it all began. New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Maberry teams up with the godfather of the living dead himself, George A. Romero, to present a collection of all-new tales set during the 48 hours of that legendary outbreak.

Nights of the Living Dead includes stories by some of today's most important writers: Brian Keene, Carrie Ryan, Chuck Wendig, Craig Engler, David J. Schow, David Wellington, Isaac Marion, Jay Bonansinga, Joe R. Lansdale, Joe McKinney, John Russo, John Skipp, Keith RA DeCandido, Max Brallier, Mike Carey, Mira Grant, Neal and Brendan Shusterman, and Sandra and Ryan Brown, plus original stories by Romero and Maberry.

Narrators include: Ray Porter, Stefan Rudnicki, Jonathan Maberry, Kasey Lansdale, Kristoffer Tabori, Rex Linn, Gabrielle de Cuir, Adenrele Ojo, Richard Gilliland, and Nicholas Guy Smith.

Excellent anthology for zombie lovers.

Nice variety of narration. There was only one thing I didn’t like. ONE. Otherwise it’s a great listen and I was super happy to find it in the plus catalogue.

Mind Blown over this amazing anthology

This is one of many anthology series over the years that have paid tribute to Romero’s groundbreaking 1968 film, which bequeathed George with the mantle of “King of the Zombie Films.” While I often find that Hollywood has beaten this genre to death—pun intended—this collection of 19 tales is amazing, exhilarating, and creative. A must-read/listen for lovers of good short stories…regardless of genre. And the voice cast for Audible is an all-star team of talent!

The classic is still the best.

I still remember the first time I saw a night of the living dead. it was a Halloween night I was too old to go trick or treating and I wasn't going to any parties that night, so I decided to wait until 11:00 p.m. to watch a televised version of night of the living dead. it is probably one of my most watched movies of all time and I adore the universe,
this anthology collection does a great job of capturing the feel, the horror, the absurdity of the original film sometimes with humor, often with grotesque horror and I think every author had such a fun take and respect for the source material. this is a must listen for fans of George A Romero.

New Drinking Game

Take a shot everytime they say the word "...said".

"Hey Bob" Joe said, "Hey Joe" Bob said, "How are you?" Joe said, "Good" Bob said.

I swear its every other word. I don't need the narrator telling me Clive said something after hearing his screeching yokel voice say it.

average works

Most of the works are rather average most likely due to the short length they are constrained by. Some disicions by characters seems idiotic The acting in some chapters was supurb and when sound is present it's well done. Overall chapter 10 was one of the best and the banging was spooky.

A Fleshy Feast for your Ears

This anthology captures the essence of the zombie(ghoul) apocalypse. Each gruesome tale is wonderfully narrated, and leaves you hungry for more flesh eating stories of the dead returned.
