About this listen
Kidnapping plots, arson, jewel heists, attempted murder–just another day in Paradise...Valley, Arizona.
In this wild, genre-bending audio documentary, New York Times best-selling author and Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Ronan Farrow dives deep into the strange and storied life of high-society socialite and former Miss Arizona Celia (Cece) Doane.
As a well-to-do ex-beauty queen in the 1970s, Cece had no trouble attracting husbands. She did appear to have some trouble getting rid of them, though. Under seemingly perpetual investigation for attempted murder plots against two of her spouses, she has been a “person of interest” to Arizona law enforcement for decades but never arrested. Did she actually conspire to have her husbands killed? And if so, how has she managed to elude detectives for so many years?
Through countless hours of interviews and painstaking investigative legwork, Farrow examines Cece’s checkered past, exposing a web of half-truths and omissions that shed new light on this shocking and confounding case. But what happens when he realizes that his most important source may also be his most unreliable?
Part true crime thriller, part captivating character study, Not a Very Good Murderer is a fascinating exploration of what it takes to uncover the truth and what it means to keep it buried.

Ronan Needs To Look in the Mirror. Deceptive so-called “Journalism” (?)
Where to start? Interviewing an unstable subject while she’s completely intoxicated? - So classy.
Injecting leftist bias showing how much the writer is indoctrinated? - So sassy!
Implying her wry jokes are confessions? - Just Trashy.
I suffered as a daughter of a neurotic, unaffectionate “mother” - who did contribute to my father’s death - but almost felt some compassion for this messed up Woman being exploited by Ronan.
Borderline isn’t a joke, and there was ZERO compassion in his observations.
I’m a West Coast artist type, living on the Poverty Line - NOT a Trump fan - but even people like ME have the capacity to question things Ronan interjected as pure “misinformation” - trying to make his subject out to be a nutter because she’s not drinking the Kool Aid and swallowing The Narrative.
The fact that this “investigative reporter (lol) still believes Biden legitimately garnered over 80 million votes (please!) and that there was no Burning, Looting or Murdering during “mostly peaceful protests” ????
(Look up David Dorne. CHAZ. Google: Tony Timpa)
… and that the Feds were NOT involved in the unarmed so-called “insurrection” - seriously?(Ray Epps?)
Well, those few but blatant examples pretty much lay out the intent of this production - nothing more than trashy trade gossip - whilst pretending to be some clever commentary on human nature - a revealing look at the “privilege bubble” - Ronan himself blindly exists in.
Hey Ronan -
“ It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.”

* Was an ok distraction to listen to whilst spring cleaning. Like some disposable pulp fiction novella.
A LOT of eye rolling indeed.

A coocoo coco puff documentary!
The word choices in this journalist investigation were quite endearing. It shows how being affluent and rich comes with its own problems. Also, how trust can be fickle and play a pivotal role in shaping one’s image in society. Just kind of wish the documentary was longer and more detailed in who was behind the viagra in Jim’s cup.

An Extremely Dull Investigation.
The only good thing i can say about this program was that her crazy was hilarious. Ronen is annoying, his political arguments are so dumb and his promotion of gay people and their productions was unnecessary and annoying. He doesn’t really discover anything about the crimes and pretends like he helped her discover things about herself when she literally couldn’t care less by the end. Waste of my time… at least she was funny though.

Horrible people being horrible to eachother
Proof money doesn’t buy brains, class or happiness. Horrible people being horrible to each other with no redeeming qualities, and the story is not presented in a particularly captivating way. What’s the hook and why do I care about anyone in this story? Cece is no John B Macklemore.
