Publisher's Summary

Ever wonder what happened to the Isekai’d gamer who found himself incarnated into the overweight body of a LitRPG farmer, only to spit in the face of destiny and earn more money and experience than anyone ever dreamed possible? Fairytales would have you believe he lived happily ever after, but life doesn’t always match up to fairytale endings.

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer turned clerical error, has now become a thorn in the vindictive Northern Regent’s side. To make matters worse, he has a giant stuck in his well, and the adventurers’ guilds are pounding on his door for the chance to kill it (which is more than a little annoying, as all Arnold wants to do is focus on taking his trap method wide while he builds a farm to give down-on-their-luck farmers like him a chance).

However, there is “one” little problem with his plan: changing the world isn’t easy, and Arnold needs an entire industry that doesn’t currently exist.

And resource management is hard.

And trying to find good employees is difficult.

And Blackwood doesn’t have the infrastructure to support all these people (even if he does).

And the regent is out for blood and trying to ruin him.

And no matter what he tries, the giant won’t die.

And for some reason, Ranic wants him to find a goal that gives his life meaning.

So let’s see how well his happily ever after really goes…

Fun Listen!

I enjoyed it. This book is far more complicated than the first one with many new characters and conflicts. if you lose focus at certain parts you can completely miss key elements of the story that have fundamental changes to characters later on. At times, the amount of information dumps can be tiring.

Main character is very likable. Situations generally are setup really well to get a good laught later on. There was many times I laughed because of the character reactions to the absolute absurdity of the situations. It very rarely felt forced and I think that comes from the creative character design.

The performance was well done. A great improvement over the first book even though it was complicated from all the new character introductions. The tones used for the characters were believable and really brought them to life for me.

If you have the first book, and finished it, get this. You won't regret it. It builds on the first one really well and shows the author put in the time to deliver a more complete experience.

Ok. Enjoyed

I enjoyed this book, but there were too many characters with very little depths to them.

It felt like the author just threw a new character into the book any time he needed to move the story along. Many of which were essentially discarded after the plot progressed a bit, maybe drug back out once or twice and then ignored. Trap smith anyone?

Some of these characters were great and could have become fixtures, yet were left and ignored.

I did like the hints at world building, the idea that there’s more to the universe that he could obtain. Would have really like to see him dig into and explore the secrets of the system.

But that too was kinda glossed over.

Idk, I did enjoy. Hopefully there’s more to the series or maybe more with Salem specifically.

Great second installment

Enjoyable read. The pacing was a bit off compared to the first, and the progression/character development was a lot less impressive. But overall it was good.

Humorous and intriguing!

Both books have just the right amount of humour as they do intriguing situations.I really enjoyed the characters and found myself listening at every opportunity. Great job!

Great take on the reluctant adventurer trope

Farmer Arnold had a farm… and he hated farming. Arnold et al. are back at it again, and have finally figured out how to deal with their little problem! The narrator does a great job of getting us in to the story, and the author wrapped most things up pretty neatly. I really hope this duology turns into a trilogy!

I enjoy the story, but am tired of all the sex talk.

The story is fun, the character growth is good. Sometimes it seems a little too convenient. I am annoyed at the sexual play in this story. I enjoy quality adventures without the milking of male goats, and sex dungeons.
I wanted to share this book with my family but won’t now.
That’s too bad.

Loved just about everything!

I kept glancing at the time left on the book because I didn't want it to end and was hoping there was more left. Loved the characters, over-the-top gaming mechanics and general storyline. Travis Baldree was great as a narrator.

Good

This book was as good as the first one. Production and talent were on the same level.
