À propos de cet audio
Take a trip to the beloved supernatural town of Mystic Bayou in this brilliantly funny new stand-alone novella - written for audio-first!
Charlotte McBee knows she’s in for a challenge when she accepts a job as midwife for a dragon and a phoenix shifter. Being a fairy herself, it isn’t the supernatural world that scares her. It’s the thought of delivering a giant metal dragon’s egg, which has her gritting her teeth in pain for poor Jillian, the anxious mother-to-be.
While preparing for the big event, a handsome town resident catches her eye. Leonard is kind, charming, and a little bit mysterious. He’s also suffering from a highly unusual condition brought on by an ancient fairy curse, and he’s too wary of Charlotte to allow her to get close.
Will love overcome fear before the end of her assignment?

Well I really enjoy fantasy and a type books, I'm not a big fan of the hetero breeding and pregnancy storyline. But it was different. And it was cute. And it was a nice change from a lot of the epic and tragic type of books I've been reading lately which have quite a darker side to them.
It's unusual to jump into a book that is labeled 4.5 in the middle of the series, but that aside, the story actually worked as a standalone. Albeit with a cliffhanger.
Didn't feel like I needed a history of all the characters or details of world building and that's the mark of a good writer. Especially in a long series.
Honestly it is very sweet. And I love the way that it is written as if there is no implausibility factor at all. It's like this is just normal stuff going on in the world today. And that's part of what makes it so endearing.
One of the only things I didn't like about it was it ended quite abruptly and it felt like the first part of a book. Which I guess is the point of a teaser, keeps you wanting to come back for more.
If you're looking for an uplifting, quirky and sweet read I highly suggest it.
I would definitely recommend it for a light distracting read or something you have on if you're having a bubble bath. Again not my thing but I know a lot of people love that.
As an audiobook, I do have to share something that was unusual.
The female narrator is incredibly fast. I had to slow her speed down to .8 for the first half of the book. And then in sharp comparison is the makr narrator who is so slow I had to speed him up to 1.25.
It's an unusual thing to have in an audiobook I wonder if it was an oversight or if they are just that naturally different in their speech and likely never met each other.
but their abilities to pull off a variety of accents and shift the cadence in their voice to create different characters earn them 4 stars
Overall, I still recommend this book as a fun little jaunt into a different world for a couple of hours.
unexpectedly fun
