Publisher's Summary

Widespread poverty and malnutrition, an alarming refugee crisis, social unrest, and economic polarization have become our lived reality as the top one percent of the world’s seven-billion-plus population pushes the planet - and all its people - to the social and ecological brink.

In Oneness vs. the 1%, Vandana Shiva takes on the billionaires club of Gates, Buffet, and Zuckerberg, as well as other modern empires whose blindness to the rights of people and to the destructive impact of their construct of linear progress have wrought havoc across the world. Their single-minded pursuit of profit has undemocratically enforced uniformity and monocultures, division and separation, monopolies and external control - over finance, food, energy, information, health care, and even relationships.

Basing her analysis on explosive, little-known facts, Shiva exposes the one percent’s model of philanthrocapitalism, which is about deploying unaccountable money to bypass democratic structures, derail diversity, and impose totalitarian ideas based on one science, one agriculture, and one history. She calls for the “resurgence of real knowledge, real intelligence, real wealth, real work, real well-being”, so that people can reclaim their right to: live free. Think free. Breathe free. Eat free.

An eye opener content by Vandana Shiva

A must read book. Vandana shiva has shared some very interesting facts regarding different motives of these so called billionaires and how they are so powerful in manipulating the human consciousness in many different ways from what we eat, we see, we think, we inhale and much more. Need to spread her work to all the humanity as there is still hope to make our beautiful planet earth 🌏 the habitat of different species and place our ecology in balance with the economy of the world.
Thank you Vandana Shiva for such an amazing and informative content 👏👌👍❤🙏

Deeply educational and easy to understand

Although a short book, it is thick with many concepts that clearly expose predator elite class colonialism which has reached every aspect of life and all people. Also rich with insights and real world tactics for navigating our transition back to harmony with nature and smaller communities

Interesting information

Lots of interesting info but repetitive. It’s a bit accusatory without necessarily linking to sourced.

Good, but seemed to keep repeating the same points

it was good...and worth the listen. Towards the end, it was a bit hard to get through.

Riveting, Profound and Illuminating

Vandana Shiva provides a picture of the globalist world as it is with all the pitfalls that are upon us from their intentions and suggests there is a hopeful outcome.

Brilliant book

This is the best book I’ve read in years. Vanda Shiva makes such a compelling evidence-based case for how the technological and reductionist model of science is really just a tool of colonization and the elite to further erase indigenous communities and indigenous wisdom while growing the wealth of the top 1% and creating the biggest inequality gap we have ever seen.

Enlightening with one caveat/suggestion

To say I admire Vandana Shiva is an understatement. This book is a wakeup call and she is standing up to large forces. This is a powerful read, yet at times it was difficult for me for the following reason. If you notice this too and it bothers you, press on. It's beyond worth it.

There are a lot of conclusions stated, especially in Chatper 1. The conclusions almost come across, to me, the way politicians call each other names in the media. Having said that, the book presents data and facts too. I wish the conclusion/statement part of the writing could be scaled back or removed because it's not needed to make the impact. I believe the book would be stronger without it and potentially be accessible to a wider audience.

I hung in there because I've heard Vandana speak in documentaries and online and she is an amazing speaker. She is also a true servant leader. I am grateful to her and her work. Strongly recommend.

Listen! Think! Get out of the fry pan!

This is a deeply distressing narrative that needs to be told. Loaded with facts and true history that has not yet been erased. If we go out with a whisper it is because we refused to see....

Not worth neither the time nor the money

After listening to the audiobook, the takeaway was that Vandana Shiva is a very angry individual. She has an irresponsible and negative attitude against Bill Gates and yet she never wrote a word against Steve Jobs or Apple for the same accusations she planted in Hates and his foundation.
Throughout the audiobook, the author forgot or neglected that for anyone reading or listening to her book, the larger group ate not familiar with Indian names or cultural traditions. Ms. Shiva is neither a chemist nor a biologist; instead she is described as Indian environmental activist, food sovereignty advocate, Eco-feminist and anti-globalization author. Regarding her occupation, she described herself as
Philosopher, environmentalist, author, professional speaker and social activist. Moreover, this book -in my view- should be targeted to Indochina or surrounding areas; again, most people in western countries are not familiar with the inner workings or Indian names or traditions of India.
Lastly, if Ms. Shiva is so against the likes of Amazon, Microsoft, et cetera, why she or her publisher have chosen to distribute her book through Audible? Audible is an Amazon company.

Great perspective

Amazing dive into the story behind the food we eat and the systems that exist to distance us from our roots.
The only topic I would have enjoyed exploring more was others beyond Bill Gates who have become powerful through wealth, creating reach far outside their expertise.
