A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

Publisher's Summary
Law enforcement veteran Marc Cameron brings an explosive authenticity to this powerful new US Marshal series.
Arliss Cutter is a hero for our times. And his hunt for justice cuts straight to the bone....
US Marshal Arliss Cutter is a born tracker. Raised in the swamplands of Florida, he honed his skills in the military, fought in the Middle East, and worked three field positions for Marshal Services. When it comes to tracking someone down - or taking someone out - Cutter's the best.
But his newest assignment is taking him out of his comfort zone to southeast Alaska. Cold, dark, uninhabited forests that are often shrouded in fog. And it's the kind of case that makes his blood run cold...the shocking murder of a Tlingit Indian girl.
Three people have disappeared on Prince of Wales Island. Two are crew members of the reality TV show, Fishwives. Cutter's job is to find the bodies, examine the crew's footage for clues, and track down the men who killed them. Easier said than done. Especially when the whole town is hiding secrets, every trail is a dead end - and the hunter becomes the hunted....

Not for me
I couldn't even finish this book. I'm sorry but I have absolutely no desire to hear a character revel in his killing of children and/or the description of murdering women. Sorry Marc Cameron you lost me there. I really wanted to like the story, as I liked the main character.

Good Start on a New Series
This has the potential for good character development for the Arliss Cutter series. There are implications of many demons he carries with him but nothing specific was ever communicated. Any chance he gets he uses the cover of his Deputy US Marshall badge to beat the bad guy nearly to death with his bare hands. Clever.
The setting in Alaska is refreshing change. The core cast of characters can be developed in many directions. It will be interesting to see what direction Marc Cameron takes them.
All in all, 90 to 120 minutes of the audiobook seemed like unnecessary filler. This could have easily been a 10-11 hour read and still covered all essential elements in satisfactory detail. I look forward to book 2 in this series.

Not quite top tier in my library but a good story
Not quite top tier in my library but a good story. This book by Marc Cameron, and narrated by David Chandler, is set in Alaska with some unusual main characters and some vicious, cold blooded Cartel killers. While I would consider this book a good first effort I would not describe it as gripping or hard to put down. It did contain a lot of elements to make a good book and I will keep an eye on this series.

struggled with voice talents delivery
I listen regularly to books. prob 3 or 4 a month. I had to just give up on this one. maybe just a personal preference but the voice talent delivery was off, did nothing to help the story and in some cases the rythm and cadence just was off putting.

Not bad, slightly confusing
I will continue to try the Arlis’s Cutter series. My only complaint on this book is it seemed there were so many characters. It was hard to follow. The switching back and forth between first name in last name also made it hard to follow. Hoping the next book is easier to follow.

This is an excellent read. Main characters are well developed, very human. Bad guys beware. Hope we see more of Arlin’s Cutter.

Too gruesome for my taste, but a good story and it ended well.
I think I’ll give them a chance with the next book in the series. The narrator was excellent.

Great writing
I really love this story and the writing.
The narrator, however, is a clown.
I don't know if he thinks he's being funny or if he thinks people actually speak like that.. he's not and they don't.
It is unfortunate for the listener and a disservice to good authors, When the narrator is so bad at the job he has been paid to do.
