Publisher's Summary

A battered but undefeated Alliance

A war they cannot win by force

A plan to turn the tide of history

For two years, the Castle Federation and the Alliance of Free Stars have stood against Marshal James Walkingstick of the Terran Commonwealth and his mission of conquest. Battles have been won and lost, worlds have died, and soldiers like Admiral Kyle Roberts have been forged on the anvil of war.

But the Alliance cannot win. The Commonwealth has more worlds, more ships, more soldiers. They claim their victory is inevitable. That history is on their side. Refusing to accept the Commonwealth's future, the Alliance embarks on a do-or-die mission to end the war in one strike. If Kyle Roberts's plan works, the Commonwealth will break. But if it fails, the Alliance will be broken.

Great Mil SF Space Opera and strategy

This is the final book in the Castle Federation series.
Unlike many works in this genre there is no Deus Ex Machina,
All six books tell a great story and here at the end of the series we get great space battles, epic politics, and a look at why Sun Tzu was right. Know your enemy. Over the series you come to know the characters, You know the stakes. And the final lines of the book leave us begging Mr Stewart to go forth and write more in this universe even though Kyle Roberts story is complete

Outstanding Series!

Just finished the series and was VERY pleased with it. Continuity of characters, events and threads was exceptional. The ending left an 'opening' that I hope Will be explored - I would love to read any new stories resulting.!!

Absolutely Fantastic

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this series. I loved the story and this book is a very satisfying conclusion. The narration, as always, is wonderful! The series as a whole has been a fun ride and Operation Medusa is no exception. I hope the author revisits this universe at some point in the future.

A great end(?) to the series

One of my biggest pet peeves is stories where the fate of the world/galaxy/universe/whatever is decided by a small group of people going somewhere to find the magic "save everyone"-solution. Hollywood loves those sort of stories, and seems to believe that's the only way to tell a story.

This book, and perhaps this entire series, shows that it's not. The end of the Alliance/Commonwealth is a massive operation on both sides, and even the series' main protagonist is only a part of a much larger puzzle. The book makes sure to dedicate just enough time to Admiral Roberts, Marshal Walkingstick, and a other key characters to show that the final months of the war is as complex of a situation as anything. Even clever tactics don't negate the realities of interstellar war, and that's what makes this series so good - it's balanced, believable. It's entertaining at every step of the way, and if this is the last we get to hear from the Castle Federation universe, it's the perfect way to end it.
