Weird but wonderful

Set in small-town Indiana during Trump’s presidency, this book is poorly advertised as being about “Trump’s America,” which is unfair: it’s a sad and meandering look at an orphaned kid surrounded by death and misery, trying to make his way. It’s equal parts weird and poignant, funny and depressing. Some of the meanderings are unnecessary, but it’s a solid “coming of age” tale. Shawn Compton does an excellent job for Audible, too.
