THE #1 WORLDWIDE BESTSELLER FROM THE ICONIC AUTHOR OF THE DA VINCI CODE AND THE NEW ROBERT LANGDON THRILLER, THE SECRET OF SECRETS

“Fans of The Da Vinci Code rejoice! Professor Robert Langdon is again solving the mysteries of the universe.” —People

“A life-or-death adventure.” —Entertainment Weekly

Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology, arrives at the ultramodern Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend the unveiling of a discovery that “will change the face of science forever.” The evening’s host is Edmond Kirsch, a forty-year-old billionaire and futurist, and one of Langdon’s first students.

But the meticulously orchestrated evening suddenly erupts into chaos, and Kirsch’s precious discovery teeters on the brink of being lost forever. Facing an imminent threat, Langdon is forced to flee. With him is Ambra Vidal, the elegant museum director who worked with Kirsch. They travel to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch’s secret.

Navigating the dark corridors of hidden history and extreme religion, Langdon and Vidal must evade an enemy whose all-knowing power seems to emanate from Spain’s Royal Palace. They uncover clues that ultimately bring them face-to-face with Kirsch’s shocking discovery . . . and the breathtaking truth that has long eluded us.

Ce que les critiques en disent

"Fans of The Da Vinci Code rejoice! Professor Robert Langdon is again solving the mysteries of the universe."
—People Magazine

"A brisk new book that pits creationism against science, and is liable to stir up as much controversy as The Da Vinci Code did. In Origin, the brash futurist Edmond Kirsch comes up with a theory so bold, so daring that, as he modestly thinks to himself in Brown’s beloved italics, “It will not shake your foundations. It will shatter them.” Kirsch is of course addressing The World, because that’s the scale on which Brown writes. Brown and serious ideas: they do fit together, never more than they have in Origin."
—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

"Origin asks the questions Where do we come from? Where are we going? They are questions about humanity--but they could just as easily be questions about Robert Langdon. The Mickey Mouse watch-wearing, claustrophobic, always-near-trouble symbology professor is back in Dan Brown’s latest book. And just like he was in his original exploits (Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code), Dr. Langdon is once again wrapped up in a global-scale event that could have massive ramifications on the world’s religions. As he does in all his novels, Brown[‘s] extensive research on art, architecture, and history informs every page."
—Entertainment Weekly

"Entertaining . . . Loyal fans of his globetrotting symbologist Robert Langdon will no doubt be thrilled with the fifth book in the series."
—USA Today

"Dan Brown is once again taking on the big questions: God and science and the future of the world. Origin is a familiar blend of travelogue, history, conspiracies and whodunit, with asides on everything from the poetry of William Blake to the rise and fall of fascism in Spain."
—Associated Press

"The bestselling author of The Da Vinci Code is back with a new book that looks to the future. Origin features many of Brown’s signature themes. An evil, Catholic-adjacent cult, in this case the Palmarian Church, is behind some murders. Gems from art history are the key to solving the mystery. [And] if the reader is in it for the thrill and the twist, the faithful will be glad to hear that there’s a Da Vinci Code-esque background to Robert Langdon’s mission."

If you've read/listened to The Da Vinci Code (still the best of all of his books, in my opinion), you've read ALL of his books. If this is your first Dan Brown book, you will probably like it. With each book he writes, I keep expecting him to break the mold and do something new and exciting, but with each book, I'm disappointed and bewildered.
This story is nothing very different from the past Robert Langdon novels, with the same details about Langdon being hashed and rehashed over again. The same type of interchangeable woman with whom he's on the run to solve some mystery/discover some secret/break some code, etc. We get it, Dan, you're a good writer, but you need to branch out a bit!

Dan Brown's formulaic stories are getting tired

Highly recommendable to all Tom Hanks fans. Gripping suspense from page 1 until the last word.

Great Book!

This book had me hanging onto every word. This narrator, Paul Michael, is BY far the best narrator I have ever listened too. Great listen.

I was a big Dan Brown fan after The DaVinci Code. That was what drew me to this book. It provides good Chatecism education which kind of interests me. I find most books 9n the Vatican interesting and this one was as well. The end is a twist which was a sweet surprise.

Pretty good book...

Paul Michael is a great narrator and kept me captivated. The story itself is probably one of, if not the best of Dan Brown's novels. Many of his other titles seem to use a lot of "page filler" by giving excessive details. Origin feels to have just the right amount of descriptive text to not take away from the plot.

Great story telling

Once again the villains lead Robert Langdon a merry chase through beautiful scenery in exotic places until he catches them right where they want him.

And yet I keep buying the books.

Dan Brown and Paul Michael were new authors to me and i loved the book, the combination of science and intrigue was fantastic. The narrator certainly added to the story, totally recommended.

A thinking person's author. I enjoy the way Brown weaves his stories through art, history, religion.

Dan Brown never disappoints

It must be difficult for Dan Brown to conform with the story needs of an established character and keep it fresh. There was good potential and some fun action, but it seems that the writing (story) is now very formulaic, as if written with the intention of ultimately becoming a generic Hollywood script. Different locations, but the same character profiles following the same theatrical acts, same lead role challenges, same strong supporting female roll with a beautiful women, same double bluffs... think "episodic series of the week" such as CSI. I hope Dan Brown can bring something new to the character and story in future books and not just think of what the masses want on the big screen - otherwise, I might save a buck and just reread the earlier works.

A bit too predictable
