Nick has been best friends with Mia's brother since childhood, until they became an item. Mia leaves for 4 years to go to the big city. She returns to become the lawyer at the hospital where Nick works. Due to hospital rules, they are not allowed to fraternize. Then a tragic event happens to Nick that causes tension in the town for him.

During this time, they separate even though nobody knows that they are secretly in love, but he feels she values her job more than being with him. Also, the brother is nasty to them, has not forgiven Nick, and is jealous that Nick stole his family.

Sometimes things work out, but there is damage that has to be overcome. A lovely story of what matters most: love for someone or your job.

I recommend this story.

Female narrator talked slow and whiny this made me fall asleep a few times. The storyline was good but kind of slow at times making me want to quit listening. I wanted to know the outcome even though I knew the story was predictable.
