In time-honored tradition, each Fall, before Thanksgiving, the president pardons one lucky turkey in all the land, handing him a golden turkey ticket to board the Pardoned Poultry Express. His destination is Gobbler’s Retreat and Petting Zoo, a turkey tom oasis where the pardoned royalty live out their lives in sleepy, pampered peace.

But for every other plucky turkey about town, the word "Thanksgiving" conjures entirely different images—ones that would ruffle the feathers of even the bravest bird.

This is the story of one brazen bird who ran afoul of tradition, risking his gizzard to save not only his neck, but those of his fellow feathered friends.
