Publisher's Summary

Damian Baxter is very, very rich - and he's dying. He lives alone in a big house in Surrey, looked after by a chauffeur, butler, cook and housemaid. He has but one concern: who should inherit his fortune....

Past Imperfect is the story of a quest. Damian Barker wishes to know if he has a living heir. By the time he married in his late 30s he was sterile (the result of adult mumps), but what about before that unfortunate illness? He was not a virgin. Had he sired a child? A letter from a girlfriend from these times suggests he did. But the letter is anonymous.

Damian contacts someone he knew from their days at university. He gives him a list of girls he slept with and sets him a task: find his heir....

Absolutely brilliant and hysterical!!!

Julian Fellowes unpacked the stuffed suitcases of aristocratic snobbery and flings the hysterical contents into our laps! I have not laughed so hard nor enjoyed a story more than this in quite some time. Choosing Richard to read it with a peevish and self righteous voice gave this book the golden ticket for me! It was perfection. The genius in Julian’s descriptions of people and their environments made me wish I was British and could talk like this in real life. But alas… I will relegate myself to merely passing along this recommendation to anyone who would enjoy it as much as I have!! Please do yourself a massive favour and ingest this fabulous story. It’s completely worth your time!!
