Publisher's Summary

Peacemakers. The Galactic Union's most capable enforcers and resolute negotiators, their name alone elicits fear and awe among the Union's citizenry.

Having completed a harrowing confirmation mission, Jessica Francis stands ready to become Earth's first Peacemaker and believes obtaining her commission is a mere formality. However, certain members of the Guild question her ability. Worried that she'll fall back on her mercenary ways, they want Jessica to prove her mettle at the negotiating table before she puts on the distinctive insignia of a Peacemaker.

Dream Worlds are terraformed planets inhabited by multiple species living and working in harmony. Operated by a governing Consortium, each carefully-controlled world is marketed as a paradise, but Araf is far from. The conditions are deplorable, and its three colonies are moving relentlessly toward all-out war over scarce resources and broken promises.

A three-way showdown for dominance looms - can Jessica prevent war and bring back peace? One thing is certain; she's never walked away from a fight, and she's not going to start now.

Ehhhh take it or leave it

I have been listening to the Revelations Cycle series for some time now and have come to the conclusion that there is a lot of fluff in these first 12 books that doesn't seem to be that relevant to the rest of the story. This for me was one of those types of stories. The book is about the first human Peace Maker and what it took to get her shield of office. There is some small bits of info that you glean for the rest of the big picture story but nothing you don't pick up in other books.

The first disappointing Revalations book

This one falls short of the other Revalations novels. The story seem incompletly developed and the characters aren't particularly well developed. The strong narration helps make up for the iffy characters and cheesy ending but can only do so much. I hope this story line dies here and doesn't taint the series going forward.

Worst book in the series

I'm not sure if it was the content or the narrator, but the main character sounded basically like a child throwing a temper tantrum.

A Patchy Quilt

The story was decent, written well enough, but only vaguely expands the universe. Too many details left unresolved.

Narrator speaks well enough and is tolerable, but she does a poor job differentiating characters, so it makes the story hard to follow.

Not at the same quality

i'm not sure whether it's the characterizations, the dialogue, or the plot, but compared to the other books in the series, the novel is not nearly as enjoyable. i probably hit the "skip 30" button a dozen or so times, to avoid repetitive internal dialogues. i'm not asking for a non-stop action, but this is very much on the other side of the spectrum...

Pretty Weak overall

I read this after reading the first four books in the series since it was supposed to continue the main story line. I forced myself to finish, but it took a number of tries before I did, hoping a piece of knowledge would help me understand the series. The book and the narrator were disappointing. First the narrator, a very monotone voice who showed little emotion and bored me to death. Second the story, the main character was boring, not that likable, and I just did not care that much for the outcome. I like the universe and will read the next books in the series. I think the big downside to something like this is the different writers (different quality), for instance, the first book was written by Mark Wandrey and the second by Chris Kennedy and I could easily tell the quality decline between the first and second books, the first was great, the second was good, the third was written by Mark and was also great, the fourth by Chris and it was also good. This book was written by Kevin Ikenberry and I would classify this as just OK. I don't like to spend my time listening to books that are just OK.

leaves you wanting more.

loved it.
The plot twisted several times and was quite intriguing. The end is a bit of a cliff hanger on a couple topics. It left me craving the next book in this story arc. I need answers... and this author is holding all them all.
