Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

Riordan throws us a few scraps from his table
These stories add almost nothing to the Percy Jackson saga. They seem to be chapters that were cut out of the final draft -- who knows. The individual stories are good -- very much like what you would expect of Percy and his pals. I was so glad that Jesse Bernstein was the reader. If it had been Joshua Swanson, the reader who is murdering the Heroes of Olympus series, I would not have touched it. I have to admit, Bernstein was hard to get used to -- but now, I could not imagine Percy Jackson with any other voice. I bought this audiobook to fill the LONG wait I am experiencing between Riordan's books. I know he is turning out a book a month (or so it seems). It is just that he is leaving these series, like the Heroes of Olympus, unfinished. How long are we supposed to wait? While we are waiting for Percy and Jason to team up against the bad guys, this is a good filler.

So THAT is where BOB the Titan came from....
Would you be willing to try another book from Rick Riordan? Why or why not?
I have listened to every Rick Riordan YA book on Audible. Percy Jackson Series narrated by Jesse Bernstein and the Kane Chronicles series narrated by Kathrine Kellgren and Kevin R. Free are the best! Though I love the Lost Hero series I'm not as thrilled with the other narrators.
Was Percy Jackson & The Olympians worth the listening time?
Yes, if only for the story of how Bob the Titan is created. If you have read or listened to House of Hades you will know what I am talking about. This is not a spoiler!! It just helps connect you with one of the HoH characters that otherwise seemed to come from nowhere.
Any additional comments?
The short stories were good but the live interviews in The Demigod Files were not engaging for my kids (12 & 8).

Very good but not a book you can keep listening to in my opinion
It was very good and I liked the 3 short stories. It just wasn't the best of the Percy Jackson books

Very short, not worth a credit.
What disappointed you about Percy Jackson & The Olympians?
It mainly offered a lot of the same refrains that you find in the Percy Jackson series without enough story to compensate for the repetition of the initial storyline. It doesn't really offer anything new. I just seems like some extra stories that, for whatever reason, he cut out of the main series and do not on their own merit an entire book. I felt cheated.
What could Rick Riordan have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Maybe if he put these stories together with the other one, the demigod diaries, and added a few more stories that would be worth a credit. This work felt like a rush job, incomplete and a lot of filler.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians Episode 4 1/2
Would you listen to Percy Jackson & The Olympians again? Why?
Absolutely: it's very entertaining!
Next time I'll listen to The Demigod Files after having finished The Battle of the Labyrinth, but before starting The Last Olympian. This book describes adventures of Percy Jackson and his friends that happen between those two books.
What does Jesse Bernstein bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Jesse Bernstein is a master of voices: he adds humor to a story by choosing the right voice for a character and puts the right emotion in every chosen voice at the right time.

Fantastic
What did you love best about Percy Jackson & The Olympians?
The story was awesome, it answered questions like where Bob the Titan came from and Beckendorf and the bronze dragon.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, although the first story was a tiny bit boring, the other two were really good and I liked the camper interviews. Jesse Bernstein is one of my favorite narrators.
Any additional comments?
This was really good but the print version has a map and puzzles that you don't get to do with the audiobook.
